 2017 EXISTING BUILDING CODE. 801.3 COMPLIANCE. ALL NEW
 CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS, COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND SPACES
 SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.

 1) THE SUBMITTED PERMIT APPLICATION STATES THAT IT IS
 FOR THE RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING RESTROOM FOR A VALUE
 OF $5,000.00 DOLLARS.
 109.3* BUILDING PERMIT VALUATION.
 IF, IN THE OPINION OF THE BUILDING OFFICIAL, THE
 CLAIMED VALUATION OF BUILDING, ALTERATION, STRUCTURE,
 ELECTRICAL, GAS, MECHANICAL, OR PLUMBING SYSTEMS
 APPEARS TO BE UNDER ESTIMATED ON THE APPLICATION, THE
 PERMIT SHALL BE DENIED. FOR PERMITTING PURPOSES,
 VALUATION OF BUILDINGS AND SYSTEMS SHALL BE TOTAL
 REPLACEMENT PURPOSES, VALUATION OF BUILDINGS AND
 SYSTEMS SHALL BE THE TOTAL REPLACEMENT VALUE TO INCLUDE
 STRUCTURAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, MECHANICAL, INTERIOR
 FINISHES, NORMAL SITE WORK (EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL FOR
 BUILDINGS), ARCHITECTURAL AND DESIGN FEES, MARKETING
 COST, OVERHEAD AND PROFIT; EXCLUDING ONLY LAND VALUE.
 VALUATION REFERENCES MAY INCLUDE THE LATEST PUBLISHED
 DATA OF NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION COST ANALYSIS SERVICES
 (MARSHALL-SWIFT, MEANS, ETC.) WITH REGIONAL ADJUSTMENTS
 FOR LOCATION AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CODE

 2) SHEET A-1 CODE REFERENCES LIST THE 2014 FBC AS THE
 CODE IN AFFECT. PLEASE UPDATE THE CODE REFERENCE TO THE
 2017 FBC. THE 2017 FAMILY OF THE 6TH EDITION FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE HAS BEEN ADOPTED STATEWIDE SINCE
 12/31/2017.
  
 3) SHEET A.2 SHOWS THE NEW ADA RESTROOM WITH THE BACK
 WALL MEASUREMENT OF 6 FEET 4 INCHES. THE FLOOR PLAN
 DOES NOT SHOW THE CLEARANCES AT WATER CLOSETS. 604.3
 CLEARANCE. CLEARANCES AROUND THE WATER CLOSETS AND IN
 TOILET COMPARTMENTS SHALL COMPLY WITH 604.3.
 604.3.1. SIZE. CLEARANCE AROUND A WATER CLOSET SHALL BE
 60 INCHES MINIMUM MEASURED PERPENDICULAR FROM THE SIDE
 WALL AND AND 56 INCHES MINIMUM PERPENDICULAR FROM THE
 REAR WALL. NOTE THE MINIMUM BACK WALL MEASUREMENT
 SHOULD BE 7 FOOT 1 INCH.
  
 4) SHEET A-2 DOES MAKE REFERENCE TO THIS FACILITY IS A
 PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL GRADES K-8TH GRADE. PLEASE BE
 AWARE OF THE 2017 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING CODE SCOPING
 REQUIREMENTS AND THE EXCEPTION FOUND UNDER SECTION
 101.2. EXCEPTION: FOR THE PURPOSE OF PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL
 FACILITIES AND STATE LICENSED FACILITIES, SEE CHAPTER
 4, SPECIAL OCCUPANCIES, OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE,
 BUILDING.
 SECTION 453 DEALS WITH STATE REQUIREMENTS FOR
 EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES. NOT THE LOCAL BUILDING
 DEPARTMENT CONCERN UNLESS THE SCHOOL BOARD SUBMITS
 PLANS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
  
 4A) SECTION 468.1 IS FOR FLORIDA?S PUBLIC AND PRIVATE
 SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. THERE IS NO
 EXISTING BUILDING CODE TO GO BY UNDER SPECIAL
 OCCUPANCIES FOUND IN CHAPTER 4. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH
 INFORMATION ON THE PLAN TO DETERMINE CODE COMPLIANCE
 FOR CODE COMPLIANCE FOR THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF FIXTURES
 REQUIRED UNDER THE 2017 FBC-B TABLE 2902.1 FOR
 EDUCATION.
  
 4B) 2017 FBC-B 468.3.5.1 STANDARDS. EDUCATIONAL AND
 ANCILLARY FACILITIES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH TOILETS,
 HAND WASHING FACILITIES AND DRINKING FOUNTAINS FOR ALL
 OCCUPANTS IN RATIOS AND ACCESSIBLE AS REQUIRED BY THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, FLORIDA LAW AND FEDERAL
 REGULATIONS. SHEET A-1 SHOWS A SINGLE DRINKING FOUNTAIN
 NOT A HIGH-LOW DRINKING FOUNTAIN AS REQUIRED BY:
 2017 FBC-ACCESSIBILITY CODE. 211.2 MINIMUM NUMBER. NO
 FEWER THAN TWO DRINKING FOUNTAINS SHALL BE PROVIDED.
 ONE DRINKING FOUNTAIN SHALL COMPLY WITH 602.1 THROUGH
 602.6 AND ONE DRINKING FOUNTAIN SHALL COMPLY WITH
 602.7.
 DRINKING FOUNTAINS TO SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH 307.2
 PROTRUSION LIMITS. OBJECTS WITH LEADING EDGES MORE THAN
 27 INCHES AND NOT MORE THAN 80 INCHES ABOVE THE FINISH
 FLOOR SHALL PROTRUDE 4 INCHES OR LESS MAXIMUM
 HORIZONTALLY INTO THE CIRCULATION PATH. SKIRTS MAYBE
 REQUIRED TO BE APPLIED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DRINKING
 FOUNTAIN.
  
 5) SHEET A-3 HAS RESTROOM DETAILS, THE GRAB BARS THAT
 SURROUND THE WATER CLOSET NEED TO BE UPDATED TO THE
 2017 FBC-ACCESSIBILITY CODE. 2017 FBC-ACCESSIBILITY
 CODE SECTION 609.4 POSITION OF GRAB BARS. GRAB BARS
 SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION, 33 INCHES
 MINIMUM AND 36 INCHES MAXIMUM ABOVE THE FINISH FLOOR
 MEASURED TO THE TOP OF THE GRIPPING SURFACE, NOT
 CENTERLINE.
  
 6) A TRANSMITTAL LETTER LISTING THE ORIGINAL REVIEW
 COMMENT NUMBER, WITH A DESCRIPTION OF THE REVISION
 MADE, IDENTIFYING THE SHEET OR SPECIFICATION PAGE WHERE
 THE CHANGES CAN BE FOUND WILL HELP TO EXPEDITE YOUR
