 CHECKLIST.
 CODE: FBC 6TH EDITION (2017) AND CITY AMENDMENTS.
  
 ORIGINAL COMMENT:
 1- HOUSE VALUE IS MORE THAN $300.000. NEED TO COMPLY
 WITH THE ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS AS REQUIRED BY SEC.
 706.8 FBC-EXISTING-BUILDING.
 SEC. 706.8:
 WHEN A ROOF COVERING ON AN EXISTING SITE-BUILT
 SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE IS REMOVED AND
 REPLACED ON A BUILDING THAT IS LOCATED IN THE
 WIND-BORNE DEBRIS REGION AS DEFINED IN THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, BUILDING AND THAT HAS AN INSURED VALUE
 OF $300,000 OR MORE OR, IF THE BUILDING IS UNINSURED OR
 FOR WHICH DOCUMENTATION OF INSURED VALUE IS NOT
 PRESENTED, HAS A JUST VALUATION FOR THE STRUCTURE FOR
 PURPOSES OF AD VALOREM TAXATION OF $300,000 OR MORE:
 (A)ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE IMPROVED AS
 REQUIRED BY SECTION 706.8.1.
 (B)MANDATED RETROFITS OF THE ROOF-TO-WALL CONNECTION
 SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED BEYOND A 15 PERCENT INCREASE IN
 THE COST OF REROOFING.
 EXCEPTION: SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES
 PERMITTED SUBJECT TO THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE ARE NOT
 REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THIS SECTION.
  
 RESPONSE:
 CONTRACTOR SUBMITTED PALM BEACH COUNTY FORM 200 SIGNED
 BY JOSEPH PISCIOTTI (BUILDING CONTRACTOR). THE
 INFORMATION SHOWN ON THE FORM DOESN'T COMPLY WITH THE
 REQUIREMENTS OF SEC. 706.8.1 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING.
 THIS IS NOT AN ENGINEERED DESIGN OR INFORMATION
 SUBMITTED DOESN'T COMPLY WITH THE PRESCRIPTIVE RETROFIT
 SOLUTIONS PROVIDED IN SEC. 706.8.1.1. THE
 SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE STRAP ARE INCOMPLETE. CONTRACTOR
 HIMSELF SPECIFIES THAT THE ADDITIONAL FASTENERS IN THE
 EXISTING ANCHORS DON'T PROVIDE COMPLIANCE. IN ADDITION,
 CONTRACTOR SPECIFIED THAT THERE ARE NO EXISTING ANCHORS
 AND FASTENERS AT THE LOCATIONS PROPOSED FOR MITIGATION
 RETROFIT. EXTERIOR WALLS ARE WOOD, NOT CBC. THE ROOF
 GEOMETRY IS GABLE AND THERE IS A FLAT ROOF ALSO. THERE
 IS NOT ADDRESS IDENTIFYING THE HOUSE.
 NEED TO PROVIDE AND ENGINEERED DESIGN OR PROVIDE
 PRESCRIPTIVE DESIGN. SEC. 706.8.1 FBC-RESIDENTIAL.
