 COMMENTS
 CODE: FBC 6TH EDITION (2017).
  
 ORIGINAL COMMENT:
 1- IT LOOKS LIKE THE HOUSE WAS DESIGNED FOR SHINGLES AS
 A ROOF COVERING. PROPOSED ROOFING MATERIAL IS CONCRETE
 TILES. PROVIDE ENGINEERING ANALYSIS SHOWING THAT THE
 EXISTING STRUCTURE IS CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THE
 ADDITIONAL LOAD. SEC. 107.2.1.2 CITY AMENDMENTS.
  
 RESPONSE:
 ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATION LETTER OF CONCRETE TILE REROOF
 SUBMITTED IS NOT CLEAR. IT SAYS THAT THE PROPOSED
 REROOFING ACTIVITIES WILL NOT REQUIRE MODIFICATIONS BUT
 AT THE SAME TIME IS SAYING THAT ADDITIONAL PLYWOOD AND
 WOOD FRAMING MEMBERS MAY BE REQUIRED. ENGINEER NEEDS TO
 BE SPECIFIC IF ADDITIONAL REINFORCEMENT IS REQUIRED AND
 NEEDS TO POINT OUT THE EXACT LOCATIONS. CLEARLY
 DESCRIBE EXISTING ROOFING SYSTEM.
 ALSO, CLARIFY THE LIMITATIONS. THE LIMITATIONS STATE
 THAT THE AREAS OF THE STRUCTURE BEYOND THE LIMITS OF
 THE ROOF FRAMING WERE NOT REVIEWED AND THAT THE SUBJECT
 ROOF ANALYSIS DOES NOT INDICATE SATISFACTORY OR MINIMUM
 COMPLIANCE WITH THE CURRENT EDITION OF THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE. THE PURPOSE OF THE ENGINEER ANALYSIS IS
 TO SHOW THAT EXISTING STRUCTURE IN ITS ENTIRETY IS
 CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THE ADDITIONAL LOAD. SEC. 707.2

 2- HOUSE VALUE IS MORE THAN $300.000. NEED TO COMPLY
 WITH THE ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS AS REQUIRED BY SEC.
 706.8 FBC-EXISTING-BUILDING.
 RESPONSE: REPEAT COMMENT. NOT ADDRESSED.
  
 SEC. 706.8:
 WHEN A ROOF COVERING ON AN EXISTING SITE-BUILT
 SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE IS REMOVED AND
 REPLACED ON A BUILDING THAT IS LOCATED IN THE
 WIND-BORNE DEBRIS REGION AS DEFINED IN THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, BUILDING AND THAT HAS AN INSURED VALUE
 OF $300,000 OR MORE OR, IF THE BUILDING IS UNINSURED OR
 FOR WHICH DOCUMENTATION OF INSURED VALUE IS NOT
 PRESENTED, HAS A JUST VALUATION FOR THE STRUCTURE FOR
 PURPOSES OF AD VALOREM TAXATION OF $300,000 OR MORE:
 (A)ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE IMPROVED AS
 REQUIRED BY SECTION 706.8.1.
 (B)MANDATED RETROFITS OF THE ROOF-TO-WALL CONNECTION
 SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED BEYOND A 15 PERCENT INCREASE IN
 THE COST OF REROOFING.
 EXCEPTION: SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES
 PERMITTED SUBJECT TO THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE ARE NOT
 REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THIS SECTION.
  
 NOTE: ROOF TO WALL WORK NEED TO BE DONE UNDER A
 SUBPERMIT. ACCORDING TO ROBERT (BROWN (BUILDING
 OFFICIAL) ROOFING CONTRACTOR CAN NOT DO THIS WORK
 UNLESS LICENSE TO DO SO.
