 2014 EXISTING BUILDING CODE LEVEL II 701.3 COMPLIANCE.
 ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS, COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND
 SPACES SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.

 2) THE 2ND ISSUE OR UNKNOWN IS WHEN THIS LIFT STATION
 WAS BUILT TO DETERMINE IF IT IS A PRE-FIRM OR POST FIRM
 STRUCTURE? PLEASE PROVIDE WHEN THIS STRUCTURE WAS
 BUILT.
  
 3) THE OTHER ISSUE TO DETERMINE TO WHAT EXTENT THIS
 STRUCTURE HAS TO COMPLY IS WHAT DOLLAR AMOUNT IS THE
 LIFT STATION, OR ANOTHER WORD HAS THE LIFT STATION HIT
 THE 50% OF THE STRUCTURE VALUE AND NEED TO MEET THE
 STANDARDS OF THE CURRENT CODE.
  
 4) SHEET G-2 THE GENERAL NOTES DOES NOT LIST THE DESIGN
 CRITERIA FOR THIS BUILDING. OCCUPANCY TYPE WOULD BE
 UTILITY. IN THE SPECS THIS FACILITY IS LISTED AS A
 FORCE MAIN AND IT WOULD BE ASSUMED TO BE A RISK
 CATEGORY III STRUCTURE. SEE TABLE 1604.5 OF THE 2014
 FBC-B. THE QUESTION IS THIS BUILDING AND OPERATION TO
 BE CONSIDERED A WASTE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY AND
 OTHER PUBLIC UTILITY FACILITIES NOT INCLUDED IN RISK
 CATEGORY IV, THE RISK CATEGORY WOULD BE A III.
  
 5) 2014 FBC-B 1612.4 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. THE
 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES
 LOCATED IN FLOOD HAZARD AREAS, INCLUDING COASTAL HIGH
 HAZARD AREAS, SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 5 OF
 ASCE 7 AND WITH ASCE 24. PLEASE REVIEW IN THE ASCE/ SEI
 24-05 THE DEFINITION FOR COASTAL A ZONE.
 COASTAL A ZONE. IN A COASTAL A ZONE, THE PRINCIPLE
 SOURCES OF FLOODING MUST BE ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDES,
 STORM SURGE, SEICHES OR TSUNAMIS. DURING THE BASE FLOOD
 CONDITIONS, THE POTENTIAL FOR BREAKING WAVE HEIGHTS
 SHALL BE GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1.5 FEET. PLEASE
 REVIEW ASCE/ SEI TABLE 4-1 AND THE REQUIRED HEIGHT
 ABOVE EITHER THE BASE FLOOD OR THE DFE. ON THE NEW MAPS
 NOT ADOPTED AS OF THIS REVIEW THE DESIGN FLOOD
 ELEVATION, THE DESIGN FLOOD, INCLUDING WAVE HEIGHT,
 RELATIVE TO THE DATUM SPECIFIED ON THE COMMUNITY?S
 FLOOD HAZARD MAP. THERE ARE 2 HEIGHTS GIVEN WHEN THE
 MEMBER ORIENTATION RELATIVE TO THE DIRECTION OF THE
 WAVE APPROACH:
 PARALLEL BFE + 1 FT. OR DFE WHICHEVER IS HIGHER.
 PERPENDICULAR BFE + 2 FT. OR DFE, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER.
  
 PLEASE NOTE FROM THE CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH SUMMARY OF
 COASTAL STILLWATER STUDY TABLE 9 FOR THIS SECTION OF
 THE INTERCOASTAL WATER WAY GIVEN IN NAV88 IS 7.3 FT.
  
 IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE GENERATOR, AND ATTENDANT
 UTILITIES WILL NEED TO BE ON A RAISED PLATFORM, WITH
 STAIRS AND GUARDRAIL AROUND THE TOTAL STRUCTURE. THE
 LIFT STATION ITSELF WOULD REQUIRE DRY FLOOD PROOFING TO
 A HEIGHT OF BFE + 1 FT. OR DFE WHICHEVER IS HIGHER, SEE
 ASCE/ SEI 24-05 TABLE 6-1.
  
 NOTE:
 -PLEASE PROVIDE COMMENT RESPONSE SHEET TO EXPLAIN HOW
 EACH COMMENT IS BEING ADDRESSED.
 -ADDITIONAL COMMENTS MAY BE FORTHCOMING PENDING REVIEW
 OF MATERIALS REQUESTED.
 -WHEN RESUBMITTING, PROVIDE TWO IDENTICAL COLLATED SETS
 OF DOCUMENTS FOR ISSUANCE. OLD SHEETS (BOTH SETS)
 SHOULD BE RETAINED IN THE PACKAGE; PLEASE DO NOT
 DISCARD ANY DOCUMENTS. THEY SHOULD BE BOUND TOGETHER
 SEPARATELY FROM THE TWO ISSUANCE SETS AND MARKED "VOID"
 OR "OLD SHEETS". PLEASE DO NOT STAMP THE PLANS VOID AS
 APPLICANTS ARE INADVERTENTLY STAMPING SHEETS THAT WE
 NEED "VOID", RENDERING THEM NOT USABLE.
