 ADMINISTRATION
  
 2014 EXISTING BUILDING CODE LEVEL II 701.3 COMPLIANCE.
 ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS, COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND
 SPACES SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.

 ACTION: DENIED
  
 THE REVISION OF THE 1ST FLOOR LOBBY AND ATRIUM AREA
 SHOWS THE WON DOOR BEING REMOVED AND BI-SWING GLAZED
 DOORS AND SIDE LIGHT BEING INSTALLED. THE 2014 FBC-B
 SECTION 404.6 DESCRIBES THE REQUIREMENTS FOR 1 HOUR
 FIRE BARRIERS, GLASS WALL PANELS AND THE DOORS HAVING
 TO COMPLY WITH FBC-B TABLE 716.5.
  
 THE FLOOR PLAN A-1.0 SHOWS THE NEW DOORS IDENTIFIED AS
 ?B?. THE DOOR SCHEDULE FOR TYPE B ILLUSTRATIONS B1 AND
 B2 BOTH SHOW SOLID CORE DOORS, NO GLAZING. TABLE 716.5
 FOR OTHER FIRE BARRIER (NOTE LISTED UNDER FIRE BARRIERS
 AS SHAFTS, EXIT ACCESS STAIRWAYS) REQUIRES ? HOUR
 ASSEMBLY , VISION PANEL MAXIMUM SIZE TESTED AND THE
 VISION PANEL GLAZING MARKED WITH D-H-NT-45 AND
 SIDELIGHT WITH THE SAME MARKINGS.
  
 THE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE SIDE LIGHT WOULD BE FOUND
 UNDER 404.6 EXCEPTIONS ;
  
 1. A FIRE BARRIER IS NOT REQUIRED WHERE A GLASS WALL
 FORMING A SMOKE PARTITION IS PROVIDED. THE GLASS WALL
 SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
  
 1.1. AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS ARE PROVIDED ALONG BOTH SIDES
 OF THE SEPARATION WALL AND DOORS, OR ON THE ROOM SIDE
 ONLY IF THERE IS NOT A WALKWAY ON THE ATRIUM SIDE. THE
 SPRINKLERS SHALL BE LOCATED BETWEEN 4 INCHES AND 12
 INCHES (102 MM AND 305 MM) AWAY FROM THE GLASS AND AT
 INTERVALS ALONG THE GLASS NOT GREATER THAN 6 FEET (1829
 MM). THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED SO THAT THE
 ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE GLASS IS WET UPON ACTIVATION OF
 THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WITHOUT OBSTRUCTION;
  
 1.2. THE GLASS WALL SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A GASKETED
 FRAME IN A MANNER THAT THE FRAMING SYSTEM DEFLECTS
 WITHOUT BREAKING (LOADING) THE GLASS BEFORE THE
 SPRINKLER SYSTEM OPERATES; AND
  
 1.3. WHERE GLASS DOORS ARE PROVIDED IN THE GLASS WALL,
 THEY SHALL BE EITHER SELF-CLOSING OR AUTOMATIC-CLOSING.
  
 2) WHEN RESUBMITTING PLANS PLEASE INDICATE THE REVISION
 & REMOVE ANY VOIDED SHEETS & REPLACE ANY PAGES AS
 NECESSARY, COLLATE AND STAPLE INTO SETS OF PLANS. A
 TRANSMITTAL LETTER LISTING THE ORIGINAL REVIEW COMMENT
 NUMBER, WITH A DESCRIPTION OF THE REVISION MADE,
 IDENTIFYING THE SHEET OR SPECIFICATION PAGE WHERE THE
 CHANGES CAN BE FOUND WILL HELP TO EXPEDITE YOUR PERMIT.
