 2014 EXISTING BUILDING CODE LEVEL II 701.3 COMPLIANCE.
 ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS, COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND
 SPACES SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.

 2) SEMI-COMPLIED. BY DEFINITION THE MEZZANINE AREA IS
 NOW A 2ND FLOOR. SINCE THE 2ND FLOOR STILL COMMUNICATES
 WITH THE 1ST FLOOR BY THE WAY OF THE ATMOSPHERE THIS IS
 NOW CONSIDERED A 2 STORY ATRIUM. PLEASE REVIEW ENCLOSE
 OF ATRIUMS UNDER SECTION 404.6 OF THE 2014 FBC-B:
 404.6 ENCLOSURE OF ATRIUMS.
 ATRIUM SPACES SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM ADJACENT SPACES
 BY A 1-HOUR FIRE BARRIER CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
 SECTION 707 OR A HORIZONTAL ASSEMBLY CONSTRUCTED IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 711, OR BOTH.
 EXCEPTIONS:
 1. A FIRE BARRIER IS NOT REQUIRED WHERE A GLASS WALL
 FORMING A SMOKE PARTITION IS PROVIDED. THE GLASS WALL
 SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
  
 1.1. AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS ARE PROVIDED ALONG BOTH SIDES
 OF THE SEPARATION WALL AND DOORS, OR ON THE ROOM SIDE
 ONLY IF THERE IS NOT A WALKWAY ON THE ATRIUM SIDE. THE
 SPRINKLERS SHALL BE LOCATED BETWEEN 4 INCHES AND 12
 INCHES (102 MM AND 305 MM) AWAY FROM THE GLASS AND AT
 INTERVALS ALONG THE GLASS NOT GREATER THAN 6 FEET (1829
 MM). THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED SO THAT THE
 ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE GLASS IS WET UPON ACTIVATION OF
 THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WITHOUT OBSTRUCTION;
  
 1.2. THE GLASS WALL SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A GASKETED
 FRAME IN A MANNER THAT THE FRAMING SYSTEM DEFLECTS
 WITHOUT BREAKING (LOADING) THE GLASS BEFORE THE
 SPRINKLER SYSTEM OPERATES; AND
  
 1.3. WHERE GLASS DOORS ARE PROVIDED IN THE GLASS WALL,
 THEY SHALL BE EITHER SELF-CLOSING OR AUTOMATIC-CLOSING.
  
 2. A FIRE BARRIER IS NOT REQUIRED WHERE A GLASS-BLOCK
 WALL ASSEMBLY COMPLYING WITH SECTION 2110 AND HAVING A
 3/4-HOUR FIRE PROTECTION RATING IS PROVIDED.
  
 1ST ROUND OF COMMENTS. SHEET A-0.01 SHOWS AN EXISTING
 MEZZANINE OF 329 SQ. FT. AND AN ADDITIONAL 299 SQ. FT.
 ADDED TO THE MEZZANINE LEVEL TOTALING 628 SQ. FT. THE
 TOTAL SQ. FT. OF THE 1ST FLOOR IS GIVEN 1864 SQ. FT. OR
 28.6 % OF THE FLOOR AREA.
  
 THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO FIGURE THE ALLOWABLE AREA OF
 MEZZANINES. THE SIZE OF THE MEZZANINE IS FIGURED NOT
 GREATER THAN 1/3 THE ROOM THEY ARE LOCATED (FBC-B
 505.2.1). SEE EXCEPTION # 2. THE AGGREGATE AREA OF
 MEZZANINES IN BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES OF TYPE I OR II
 CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE NOT GREATER THAN ONE-HALF OF THE
 FLOOR AREA OF THE ROOM IN BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES
 EQUIPPED THROUGHOUT WITH AN APPROVED AUTOMATIC
 SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 903.3.1.1
 AND AN APPROVED EMERGENCY VOICE/ALARM COMMUNICATION
 SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 907.5.2.2.
  
 THE ENCLOSED AREA OF THE 1ST FLOOR DOES NOT COMMUNICATE
 WITH THE MEZZANINE AREA ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE
 CALCULATING THE 1ST FLOOR AREA. THE TOTAL AREA OF THE
 1ST FLOOR AREA THAT COMMUNICATES WITH THE MEZZANINE
 LEVEL IS 833.25 SQ. FT.

 907.5.2.2 EMERGENCY VOICE/ALARM COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS.
 EMERGENCY VOICE/ALARM COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS REQUIRED BY
 THIS CODE SHALL BE DESIGNED AND INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE
 WITH NFPA 72. THE OPERATION OF ANY AUTOMATIC FIRE
 DETECTOR, SPRINKLER WATERFLOW DEVICE OR MANUAL FIRE
 ALARM BOX SHALL AUTOMATICALLY SOUND AN ALERT TONE
 FOLLOWED BY VOICE INSTRUCTIONS GIVING APPROVED
 INFORMATION AND DIRECTIONS FOR A GENERAL OR STAGED
 EVACUATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BUILDINGS FIRE SAFETY
 AND EVACUATION PLANS REQUIRED BY THE FLORIDA FIRE
 PREVENTION CODE. IN HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS, THE SYSTEM
 SHALL OPERATE ON A MINIMUM OF THE ALARMING FLOOR, THE
 FLOOR ABOVE AND THE FLOOR BELOW. SPEAKERS SHALL BE
 PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING BY PAGING ZONES. AT A
 MINIMUM, PAGING ZONES SHALL BE PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS:
 1. ELEVATOR GROUPS.
 2. EXIT STAIRWAYS.
 3. EACH FLOOR.
 4. AREAS OF REFUGE AS DEFINED IN SECTION 1002.1.
  
 2) SINCE THERE IS STRUCTURAL WORK BEING COMPLETED UNDER
 THIS PERMIT AND THIS BUILDING IS A 20 STORY HIGHRISE IT
 QUALIFIES AS A THRESHOLD BUILDING. THRESHOLD BUILDING /
 FL S. S. 553.71(7) ?THRESHOLD BUILDING" MEANING ANY
 BUILDING WHICH IS GREATER THAN (3) STORIES OR 50 FT. IN
 HEIGHT, OR WHICH HAS AN ASSEMBLY OCCUPANCY
 CLASSIFICATION AS DENIED IN THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE
 WHICH EXCEEDS 5,000 SQ. FT. IN AREA AND AN OCCUPANT
 CONTENT OF GREATER THAN 500 PERSONS.
  
 2A) 2ND REQUEST 109.3.6.1 THRESHOLD INSPECTION PLAN.
 THE ENFORCING AGENCY SHALL REQUIRE A (WRITTEN/ TYPED)
 SPECIAL INSPECTOR TO PERFORM STRUCTURAL INSPECTIONS ON
 A THRESHOLD BUILDING PURSUANT TO A STRUCTURAL
 INSPECTION PLAN PREPARED BY THE ENGINEER OF RECORD. THE
 STRUCTURAL INSPECTION PLAN MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE
 ENFORCING AGENCY PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF A BUILDING
 PERMIT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A THRESHOLD BUILDING.
 THE PURPOSE OF THE STRUCTURAL INSPECTION PLAN IS TO
 PROVIDE SPECIFIC INSPECTION PROCEDURES AND SCHEDULES SO
 THAT THE BUILDING CAN BE ADEQUATELY INSPECTED FOR
 COMPLIANCE WITH THE PERMITTED DOCUMENTS.

 109.3.6.2 W.P.B. CONSTRUCTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT
 REQUEST FOR THRESHOLD BUILDINGS A SPECIAL INSPECTOR AS
 REQUIRED BY FL S 553.79(5) FLORIDA STATUTES TO THE
 MINIMUM INSPECTIONS REQUIRED BY THIS CODE. THE
 THRESHOLD INSPECTION FORMS ARE REQUIRED TO BE FILED OUT
 BY ALL PARTIES WITH INTEREST, NOTARIZED AND RETURNED TO
 THIS OFFICE, AND REVIEWED AND APPROVED BEFORE PERMIT
 ISSUANCE WILL TAKE PLACE.

 OR HIS DESIGNEE WILL REVIEW THE RESUME'. AFTER THE
 RESUME' IS REVIEWED, AN INTERVIEW WILL BE SCHEDULED.
 UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL AN INSPECTOR BE INTERVIEWED
 FOR WORK WITHOUT FIRST MEETING THE ABOVE CRITERIA.

 SUMMARY OR HISTORY FOR THIS TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION.

 PROCEDURES, PLANS AND DETAILS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE
 ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR RECORDKEEPING. EACH SHORING AND
 RESHORING INSTALLATION SHALL BE SUPERVISED, INSPECTED
 AND CERTIFIED TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SHORING
