 REVIEW COMMENTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT
  
 A HIGH-RISE BUILDING REQUIRES OCCUPANTS TO HAVE
 UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO A MINIMUM OF TWO EXITS AT ALL
 TIMES. THE CURRENT PLACEMENT OF THE ELEVATOR LOBBY
 DOORS RESULTS IN COMMON AREAS (RESTROOMS) BEING LOCATED
 IN THE ELEVATOR LOBBY. OCCUPANTS IN THE RESTROOM AREAS
 HAVE UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO ONLY 1 EXIT STAIR.
  
 STAIRWELL RE-ENTRY: EVERY DOOR ASSEMBLY IN A STAIR
 ENCLOSURE SERVING MORE THAN FOUR STORIES SHALL ENSURE
 RE-ENTRY SHALL BE POSSIBLE ON THE TOP STORY OR
 NEXT-TO-TOP STORY SERVED BY THE STAIR ENCLOSURE, AND
 SUCH STORY SHALL ALLOW ACCESS TO ANOTHER EXIT.
  
 THE NUMBER OF MEANS OF EGRESS FROM ANY BALCONY,
 MEZZANINE, STORY, OR PORTION THEREOF SHALL BE NOT LESS
 THAN TWO, EXCEPT WHERE A SINGLE MEANS OF EGRESS IS
 PERMITTED PER CHAPTERS 11 THROUGH 43 (NFPA 101 SECTION
 7.4). ACCESS TO AN EXIT SHALL NOT BE THROUGH HIGHER
 HAZARD AREAS OR ROOMS/SPACES SUBJECT TO LOCKING (NFPA
 101 SECTION 7.5.2). DOOR LEAVES SHALL BE ARRANGED TO BE
 OPENED READILY FROM THE EGRESS SIDE. LOCKS IF PROVIDED
 SHALL NOT REQUIRE THE USE OF A KEY, FOB, ACCESS CARD,
 TOOL OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OR EFFORT FOR DOOR OPERATION
 FROM THE EGRESS SIDE (NFPA 101 SECTION 7.2.1.5).
  
 NFPA 101 SECTION 3.3.65 DEFINES AN ELEVATOR LOBBY AS, A
 LANDING FROM WHICH OCCUPANTS DIRECTLY ENTER AN ELEVATOR
 CAR(S) AND INTO WHICH OCCUPANTS DIRECTLY ENTER UPON
 LEAVING AN ELEVATOR CAR(S).
