 DENIED BY BUILDING
  
 1) THE STRUCTURE IS LOCATED IN AN A5 FLOOD ZONE WITH A
 REQUIRED BASE FLOOD ELEVATION OF 7' NGVD. THE ELEVATION
 FOR THE FINISH FLOOR OF THE GARAGE IS SPECIFIED ON THE
 PLANS AS 5.74', WHICH DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE CITY'S
 FLOOD ORDINANCE (6" ABOVE BFE). BECAUSE THE ADDITION OF
 A SECOND FLOOR TO THE GARAGE IS A SUBSTANTIAL
 IMPROVEMENT THE EXISTING GARAGE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLY
 WITH THE FLOOD ORDINANCE. THE FINISH FLOOR OF THE
 GARAGE CAN BE RAISED TO 7.5' NGVD. IF THE GARAGE IS
 USED SOLELY FOR THE PARKING OF VECHICLES, THE FINISHED
 FLOOR CAN BE BELOW THE BFE AND ENGINEERED FLOOD VENTS
 OR FLOOD OPENINGS CAN BE INSTALLED IN THE WALLS OF THE
 GARAGE ( SEE FEMA TECHINICAL BULLETIN 1 / AUGUST 2008 )
 OR SOME OTHER APPROVED METHOD MAY BE USED.
 THE NOTE ON THE NEW S-1 SHEET THAT WAS SUBMITTED
 REQUIRES THE CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY EXISTING FLOOD VENTS
 ARE PRESENT AND NOTIFY ENGINEER IF NONE ARE PRESENT.
 THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE THE PERMIT IS ISSUED.
 SPECIFY THE SIZE AND LOCATION OF THE FLOOD OPENINGS ON
 THE PLANS. PROVIDE CALCULATIONS TO SHOW THAT REQUIRED
 AREA OF FLOOD OPENINGS HAS BEEN PROVIDED. IF ENGINEERED
 FLOOD VENTS, SUCH AS 'SMART VENTS' ARE USED SUBMIT TWO
 COPIES OF THE PRODUCT APPROVALS FOR THEM AS REQUIRED BY
 DCA RULE 9N-3. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO SHOW THAT NO
 EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT FLOOD
 DAMAGE-RESISTANT IS LOCATED BELOW THE 7.5' BFE.
  
 2) THE ENERGY CALCULATION FORM IS REQUIRED TO BE SIGNED
 AND DATED BY THE OWNER/AGENT. THIS COMMENT WAS NOT
 ADDRESSED.
  
 3) THE ENERGY CALCULATION FORM LISTS THE INSULATION FOR
 THE FLOOR OVER THE GARAGE AS R-21.0 AND THE SECTIONS ON
 SHEET A-6 SPECIFY R-11 BATT INSULATION. PLEASE CORRECT.
 THIS COMMENT WAS NOT ADDRESSED.
  
 4) SUBMIT TWO COPIES OF THE PRODUCT APPROVALS FOR THE
 ROOFING MATERIALS THAT WILL BE USED AS REQUIRED BY DCA
 RULE 9N-3. THIS COMMENT WAS NOT ADDRESSED.
  
 5) THE VALUE OF $23,000.00 SPECIFIED ON THE PERMIT
 APPLICATION IS TOO LOW FOR THE SCOPE OF WORK SHOWN ON
 THE PLANS. CITY AMENDMENTS 109.3 THIS COMMENT WAS NOT
