 NOTE: ALL FIRE REVIEW COMMENTS REFERENCING NFPA 101
 REFER TO NFPA 101-THE LIFE SAFETY CODE (2009 EDITION
 WITH FLORIDA AMENDMENTS.)
  
 GENERAL: PER SECTION 10.12.1.2 (NFPA 1), PROVIDE
 BUILDING ADDRESS VISIBLE FROM THE STREET. NUMBERS SHALL
 BE ATTACHED TO THE BUILDING AND BE AT LEAST SIX-INCHES
 IN HEIGHT WITH 1-INCH STROKE AND SHALL CONTRAST THE
 BACKGROUND.
  
 GENERAL: PROVIDE AN EXTERIOR KEY SAFE TO ALLOW
 EMERGENCY RESPONDERS NON-FORCIBLE ENTRY INTO THE
 BUILDING DURING NON-BUSINESS HOURS. A KEY SAFE CAN BE
 ORDERED FROM WWW.KNOXBOX.COM.
  
 GENERAL - ELEVATOR RECALL: PER SECTION 9.4.3.2, ALL
 EXISTING ELEVATORS HAVING A TRAVEL DISTANCE OF 25 FEET
 OR MORE ABOVE OR BELOW THE LEVEL THAT BEST SERVES THE
 NEEDS OF EMERGENCY PERSONNEL FOR FIRE-FIGHTING OR
 RESCUE PURPOSES SHALL CONFORM TO THE FIRE FIGHTERS.
 EMERGENCY OPERATIONS REQUIREMENTS OF ASME A17.3, SAFETY
 CODE FOR EXISTING ELEVATORS AND ESCALATORS.
  
 SHEET LS-01: UPDATE THE CODE LIST TO REFERENCE THE 2010
 EDITION OF THE FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE WHICH
 CONTAINS THE 2009 EDITION OF BOTH NFPA 1 AND NFPA 101
 WITH FLORIDA AMENDMENTS.
  
 SHEET LS-01 - EXISTING STAIR #1: PER SECTION 7.2.2.5.3,
 ENCLOSED, USABLE SPACES WITHIN EXIT ENCLOSURES SHALL BE
 PROHIBITED, INCLUDING UNDER STAIRS, UNLESS THE SPACE
 UNDER THE STAIRS MEETS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
 (1) THE SPACE SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM THE STAIR
 ENCLOSURE BY THE SAME FIRE RESISTANCE AS THE EXIT
 ENCLOSURE.
 (2) ENTRANCE TO THE ENCLOSED, USABLE SPACE SHALL NOT BE
 FROM WITHIN THE STAIR ENCLOSURE.
 (3) THE SPACE IS NOT USED FOR THE STORAGE OF FLAMMABLE
 OR OTHERWISE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.
  
 SHEET LS-02: EXISTING STAIR #1 (SECOND FLOOR) INDICATES
 OCCUPANTS FROM THE THIRD FLOOR MUST EXIT THE PROTECTED
 STAIR ENCLOSURE AND THEN RE-ENTER THE PROTECTED STAIR
 ENCLOSURE TO EXIT THE BUILDING. SECTION 7.1.3.2.2
 REQUIRES AN EXIT ENCLOSURE TO PROVIDE A CONTINUOUS
 PROTECTED PATH OF TRAVEL TO AN EXIT DISCHARGE. THIS
 APPLIES TO NEW AND EXISTING CONDITIONS PER NFPA 1
 SECTIONS 14.3.2 AND 1.3.1.
  
 GENERAL: PROVIDE TACTILE SIGNAGE AT ALL REQUIRED EXIT
 DOORS WITH EXIT SIGNS.
  
 GENERAL: PER SECTION 8.3.2.4, EACH FIRE BARRIER SHALL
 BE PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED WITH SIGNS OR STENCILING
 READING FIRE BARRIER-PROTECT ALL OPENINGS. CHARACTERS
 SHALL BE AT LEAST 4-INCHES IN HEIGHT AND HALF-INCH IN
 WIDTH. IDENTIFICATION SHALL BE SPACED NOT MORE THAN 15
 FEET ON CENTER.
  
 SHEET E1.1-1.3: PROVIDE EMERGENCY LIGHTING FOR EXTERIOR
 STAIRS AND EXTERIOR ROOF EGRESS PATH LEADING TO THE
 EXIT DISCHARGE (ALLEY). EMERGENCY ILLUMINATION SHALL BE
 PROVIDED FOR A MINIMUM OF .5 HOURS IN THE EVENT OF
 FAILURE OF NORMAL LIGHTING. EMERGENCY LIGHTING
 FACILITIES SHALL BE ARRANGED TO PROVIDE INITIAL
 ILLUMINATION THAT IS NOT LESS THAN AN AVERAGE OF 1
 FT-CANDLE AND, AT ANY POINT, NOT LESS THAN 0.1
 FT-CANDLE, MEASURED ALONG THE PATH OF EGRESS AT FLOOR
 LEVEL.
  
 SHEET FA-1: NO FIRE ALARM NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES
 PROVIDED IN TOILET #118, TOILET #112, TOILET #113,
 OFFICE SPACE #111, OR CORRIDOR #103.
  
 SHEET FA-1: FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL BE FULLY
 ADDRESSABLE.
  
 ELECTRICAL: PLANS DO NOT INDICATE THE METHOD (HEAT
 DETECTOR/FLOW SWITCH WITHOUT TIME DELAY) USED TO SHUNT
 TRIP POWER TO THE ELEVATOR IN THE EVENT AN AUTOMATIC
 SPRINKLER ACTIVATES IN THE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM.
  
 FIRE SPRINKLER: THE RETAIL (MERCANTILE OCCUPANCY)
 SHOULD BE DESIGN FOR ORDINARY HAZARD GROUP 1 OR GROUP 2
 IN LIEU OF THE LIGHT HAZARD DESIGNATION INDICATED ON
 THE PLAN.
  
 FIRE SPRINKLER: PROVIDE CURRENT HYDRANT FLOW TEST
 INFORMATION ON THE PLANS.
  
 FIRE SPRINKLER: REGULAR STANDARD SPRAY SPRINKLERS ARE
 NO LONGER AN ACCEPTABLE METHOD FOR PROTECTING GLAZING
 TO ACHEIVE A 1-HOUR FIRE RATED SEPARATION. CURRENTLY,
 ONLY TYCO "WINDOW SPRINKLERS" ARE LISTED TO ACHIEVE A
 ONE-HOUR OR TWO-HOUR FIRE RATED EQUIVALENT FOR
 PROTECTING GLAZING ASSEMBLIES.
  
 TYCO WINDOW SPRINKLERS: IF THE DESIGN INTENT IS TO USE
 TYCO WINDOW SPRINKLERS (IN LIEU OF FIRE-RATED GLASS) TO
 ACHIEVE A FIRE RATED SEPARATION, THE SPRINKLERS MUST BE
 INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE UL LISTING DATA AND SHALL
 WET THE ENTIRE GLAZING SURFACE. SPRINKLERS CANNOT BE
 USED TO PROTECT OPERABLE DOORS OR WINDOWS. THE WINDOW
 SPRINKLERS DO NOT ALLOW HORIZONTAL WINDOW MULLIONS AND
 REQUIRE THE GLASS CURTAIN WALL TO BE ATTACHED TO A
 THREE FOOT HIGH PONY WALL TO KEEP COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS
 AT LEAST TWO INCHES AWAY FROM THE GLAZING. PAY SPECIAL
 ATTENTION TO THE GLAZING ASSEMBLY AS THE SPRINKLER
 POSITIONING VARIES FOR BUTT-GLAZED INSTALLATIONS
 COMPARED TO VERTICAL MULLION INSTALLATIONS. VERTICAL
 MULLIONS SHALL BE OF A DEPTH THAT PREVENTS COLD
 SOLDERING OF ADJACENT SPRINKLERS. THE SPRINKLER DESIGN
 SHOULD INDICATE WHICH WINDOW SPRINKLER MODEL WILL BE
 USED (HORIZONTAL SIDEWALL OR PENDENT VERTICAL
 SIDEWALL).
  
 FIRE SPRINKLER: CONFIRM THE EXISTING ATTACHED STORAGE
 BUILDING (INDICATED AS NIC) IS PROTECTED BY THE
 AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM.
