| FBC CH.1 AS AMENDED BY THE CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH |
| |
| 1. THE INSTALLATION OF LIQUID-FUELED STATIONARY |
| INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES AND GAS TURBINES, INCLUDING |
| FUEL STORAGE AND PIPING, SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF |
| NFPA 37 IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 915.1. |
| |
| 2. PLANS INDICATE THIS GENERATOR WILL SERVE ALL |
| BUILDING SYSTEMS DURING POWER OUTAGES INCLUDING |
| EMERGENCY SYSTEMS. GENERATORS USED FOR EMERGENCY POWER |
| SUPPLIES SHALL ALSO COMPLY WITH NFPA 110, STANDARD FOR |
| EMERGENCY AND STANDBY POWER SYSTEMS. |

| 3. PROVIDE GENERATOR MANUFACTURER???S SPECIFICATIONS |
| INDICATING THE MINIMUM FREE-AREA OPENING REQUIRED FOR |
| RADIATOR EXHAUST. THE AIR SUPPLY SHALL BE DESIGNED TO |
| MEET AT LEAST THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR COMBUSTION, |
| COOLING, AND VENTILATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 37-02 |
| SECTION 4.1.1.2. VENTILATION AIR SUPPLY AND DISCHARGE |
| FOR RADIATOR COOLED EPS SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM STATIC |
| RESTRICTION OF 0.5 INCHES OF WATER COLUMN (125 PA) IN |
| THE DISCHARGE DUCT AT THE RADIATOR OUTLET IN ACCORDANCE |
| WITH NFPA 110-02 SECTION 7.7.4.1. |
| |
| 4. WITH THE EPS RUNNING AT RATED LOAD, VENTILATION AIR |
| FLOW SHALL BE PROVIDED TO LIMIT THE MAXIMUM AIR |
| TEMPERATURE IN THE EPS ROOM TO THE MAXIMUM AMBIENT AIR |
| TEMPERATURE REQUIRED BY THE EPS MANUFACTURER IN |
| ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 110-02 SECTION 7.7.1. |
| CONSIDERATION SHALL BE GIVEN TO ALL THE HEAT REJECTED |
| TO THE EPS EQUIPMENT ROOM BY THE ENERGY CONVERTER, |
| UNINSULATED OR INSULATED EXHAUST PIPES, AND OTHER HEAT |
| PRODUCING EQUIPMENT. |

| 5. PLANS INDICATE A 5000 GALLON FUEL TANK. FUEL TANKS |
| WITHIN A STRUCTURE BUT NOT IN A ROOM BY THEMSELVES |
| SHALL NOT EXCEED 660 GALLONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA |
| 37-02 SECTION 6.3.2.2 UNLESS ALL CONDITIONS OF THE |
| EXCEPTION TO THIS SECTION ARE MET. |
| |
| EXCEPTION: FUEL TANKS OF ANY SIZE SHALL BE PERMITTED |
| WITHIN ENGINE ROOMS OR MECHANICAL SPACES, PROVIDED THE |
| ENGINE OR MECHANICAL ROOM IS DESIGNED USING RECOGNIZED |
| ENGINEERING PRACTICES WITH SUITABLE FIRE DETECTION, |
| FIRE SUPPRESSION, AND CONTAINMENT MEANS TO PREVENT THE |
| SPREAD OF FIRE BEYOND THE ROOM OF ORIGIN. |

| 6. THE AGGREGATE CAPACITY OF ALL FUEL TANKS IN A |
| STRUCTURE SHALL NOT EXCEED 5000 L (1320 GAL) UNLESS |
| THAT PORTION EXCEEDING 5000 L (1320 GAL) IS ENCLOSED IN |
| A ROOM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 6.3.6 PER NFPA 37-02 SECTION |
| 6.3.2.3. |
| |
| 7. THE ENGINE ROOM SHALL BE PROPERLY VENTILATED IN |
| ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 37-02 SECTION 6.3.6.5. |
| |
| 8. FUEL TANKS WITHIN STRUCTURES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH |
| SPILL CONTAINMENT CONSISTING OF EITHER A WALL, A CURB, |
| OR A DIKE HAVING A CAPACITY AT LEAST EQUAL TO THAT OF |
| THE LARGEST SURROUNDED TANK IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA |
| 37-02 SECTION 6.3.2.4. |
| |
| 9. ENGINE ROOMS LOCATED WITHIN STRUCTURES SHALL HAVE |
| INTERIOR WALLS, FLOORS, AND CEILINGS OF AT LEAST 1-HOUR |
| FIRE RESISTANCE RATING IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 37-02 |
| SECTION 4.1.2.3. |
| |
| 10. ENGINE ROOMS SHALL HAVE VENTILATION THAT IS |
| ADEQUATE TO PREVENT A HAZARDOUS ACCUMULATION OF |
| FLAMMABLE VAPORS OR GASES, BOTH WHEN THE ENGINE IS |
| OPERATING AND WHEN IT IS SHUT DOWN IN ACCORDANCE WITH |
| NFPA 37-02 SECTION 4.1.2.5. |
| |
| 11. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY BE APPLICABLE UPON |
| DETERMINATION OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF THIS SYSTEM AS A |
| LEVEL 1 OR LEVEL 2 EPSS IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 110-02 |
| SECTION 4.4. |

| 12. ABOVE GROUND FUEL TANK INSTALLATIONS SHALL BE |
| APPROVED BY PALM BEACH COUNTY DERM PRIOR TO PERMIT |
| ISSUANCE. PROVIDE TWO SETS OF PLANS APPROVED BY PBC |
| DERM AT TIME OF PERMIT APPLICATION. |

| 13. ALL PLANS SHALL BE SIGNED AND SEALED BY THE DESIGN |
| PROFESSIONAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-B SECTION 106.1. |
