 1) FBC EXISTING BUILDING 901.1 SCOPE.
 AN ADDITION TO A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE SHALL COMPLY
 WITH THE BUILDING, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, AND MECHANICAL
 CODES, WITHOUT REQUIRING THE EXISTING BUILDING OR
 STRUCTURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY REQUIREMENTS OF THOSE
 CODES OR OF THESE PROVISIONS.
  
 2) A RECORDED COPY OF THE NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT
 MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE A
 PERMIT CAN BE ISSUED.

 ARE REQUIRED TO BE SIGNED AND DATED. SEE FS 471.
  
 7) SUBMIT ENERGY CALCULATIONS FOR THE ADDED LIVING
 SPACE AS REQUIRED BY 2004 FBC CHAPTER 13.
  
 8) SPECIFY THE R-VALUES FOR THE WALL AND CEILING
 INSULATION ON THE PLANS.
  
 9)SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
 R313.1 SMOKE ALARMS .
 SMOKE ALARMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE FOLLOWING
 LOCATIONS:
 1.IN EACH SLEEPING ROOM.
 2.OUTSIDE EACH SEPARATE SLEEPING AREA IN THE
 IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE BEDROOMS.
 3.ON EACH ADDITIONAL STORY OF THE DWELLING,
 INCLUDING BASEMENTS BUT NOT INCLUDING CRAWL SPACES AND
 UNINHABITABLE ATTICS. IN DWELLINGS OR DWELLING UNITS
 WITH SPLIT LEVELS AND WITHOUT AN INTERVENING DOOR
 BETWEEN THE ADJACENT LEVELS, A SMOKE ALARM INSTALLED ON
 THE UPPER LEVEL SHALL SUFFICE FOR THE ADJACENT LOWER
 LEVEL PROVIDED THAT THE LOWER LEVEL IS LESS THAN ONE
 FULL STORY BELOW THE UPPER LEVEL.
 WHEN MORE THAN ONE SMOKE ALARM IS REQUIRED TO BE
 INSTALLED WITHIN AN INDIVIDUAL DWELLING UNIT THE ALARM
 DEVICES SHALL BE INTERCONNECTED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT
 THE ACTUATION OF ONE ALARM WILL ACTIVATE ALL OF THE
 ALARMS IN THE INDIVIDUAL UNIT. THE ALARM SHALL BE
 CLEARLY AUDIBLE IN ALL BEDROOMS OVER BACKGROUND NOISE
 LEVELS WITH ALL INTERVENING DOORS CLOSED.
 ALL SMOKE ALARMS SHALL BE LISTED AND INSTALLED IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS CODE AND THE
 HOUSEHOLD FIRE WARNING EQUIPMENT PROVISIONS OF NFPA
 72.
  
  
 R313.1.1 ALTERATIONS, REPAIRS AND ADDITIONS.
 WHEN INTERIOR ALTERATIONS, REPAIRS OR ADDITIONS
 REQUIRING A PERMIT OCCUR, OR WHEN ONE OR MORE SLEEPING
 ROOMS ARE ADDED OR CREATED IN EXISTING DWELLINGS, THE
 INDIVIDUAL DWELLING UNIT SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH SMOKE
 ALARMS LOCATED AS REQUIRED FOR NEW DWELLINGS; THE SMOKE
 ALARMS SHALL BE INTERCONNECTED AND HARD WIRED.
 EXCEPTIONS:
 1. SMOKE ALARMS IN EXISTING AREAS SHALL NOT BE
 REQUIRED TO BE INTERCONNECTED AND HARD WIRED WHERE THE
 ALTERATIONS OR REPAIRS DO NOT RESULT IN THE REMOVAL OF
 INTERIOR WALL OR CEILING FINISHES EXPOSING THE
 STRUCTURE, UNLESS THERE IS AN ATTIC, CRAWL SPACE, OR
 BASEMENT AVAILABLE WHICH COULD PROVIDE ACCESS FOR HARD
 WIRING AND INTERCONNECTION WITHOUT THE REMOVAL OF
 INTERIOR FINISHES.
 2.REPAIRS TO THE EXTERIOR SURFACES OF DWELLINGS
 ARE EXEMPT FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.
  
 10) SUBMIT TWO COPIES OF A SURVEY AND A SITE PLAN
 SHOWING THE LOCATION OF THE ADDITION AND DISTANCE TO
 PROPERTY LINES.
  
 11) SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH R302.1 EXTERIOR WALLS.
 EXTERIOR WALLS SEPARATED BY LESS THAN 6 FEET (1828 MM)
 SHALL HAVE NOT LESS THAN A ONE-HOUR FIRE-RESISTIVE
 RATING WITH EXPOSURE FROM BOTH SIDES. PROJECTIONS SHALL
 NOT EXTEND TO A POINT CLOSER THAN 4 FEET (1220 MM) FROM
 AN ADJACENT PROJECTION OR WALL.
 EXCEPTION : DETACHED GARAGES ACCESSORY TO A DWELLING
 LOCATED WITHIN 2 FEET (610 MM) OF A LOT LINE SHALL BE
 PERMITTED TO HAVE ROOF EAVE PROJECTIONS NOT EXCEEDING 4
 INCHES (102 MM).
 PROJECTIONS EXTENDING INTO THE 6-FOOT (1829 MM)
 SEPARATION DISTANCE SHALL HAVE NOT LESS THAN 1-HOUR
 FIRE-RESISTIVE CONSTRUCTION ON THE UNDERSIDE. THE ABOVE
 PROVISIONS SHALL NOT APPLY TO WALLS WHICH ARE
 PERPENDICULAR TO A LINE EXTENDING FROM THE POINT FROM
 WHICH THE SEPARATION DISTANCE HAS BEEN MEASURED RUNNING
 AND PARALLEL TO THE PROPERTY LINE.
 EXCEPTION: TOOL AND STORAGE SHEDS, PLAYHOUSES AND
 SIMILAR STRUCTURES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE WALL
 PROTECTION BASED ON LOCATION ON THE LOT.
  
 12) SPECIFY THE REQUIRED SOIL BEARING CAPACITY FOR THE
 DESIGN ON THE PLANS.
  
 13)PROVIDE A FOUNDATION PLAN FOR THE ADDITION, WHICH
 SPECIFIES THE FOOTING DIMENSIONS, REINFORCING DISTANCE
 BELOW AND ABOVE GRADE. SEE FBC R403.1 AND R404.4.6 ALSO
 SHOW THAT THE CONCRETE SLAB COMPLIES WITHR506 FOR
 SLABS AND R320.1 FOR TERMITE TREATMENT.
  
 14) SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH R403.1.4 MINIMUM DEPTH. ALL
 EXTERIOR FOOTINGS SHALL BE PLACED AT LEAST 12 INCHES
 (305 MM) BELOW THE UNDISTURBED GROUND SURFACE.
  
 15) SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH R704 WHICH REQUIRES A
 CLEARANCE OF 6" BETWEEN EXTERIOR WALL COVERINGS AND

 CONCRETE AND MASONRY FOUNDATION WALLS SHALL EXTEND
 ABOVE THE FINISHED GRADE ADJACENT TO THE FOUNDATION AT
 ALL POINTS A MINIMUM OF 4 INCHES (102 MM) WHERE MASONRY
 VENEER IS USED AND A MINIMUM OF 6 INCHES (152 MM)
 ELSEWHERE.
  
  
 18) SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH R301.1 DESIGN.
 BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES, AND ALL PARTS THEREOF, SHALL
 BE CONSTRUCTED TO SAFELY SUPPORT ALL LOADS, INCLUDING
 DEAD LOADS, LIVE LOADS, ROOF LOADS, FLOOD LOADS AND
 WIND LOADS AS PRESCRIBED BY THIS CODE. THE CONSTRUCTION
 OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES SHALL RESULT IN A SYSTEM
 THAT PROVIDES A COMPLETE LOAD PATH CAPABLE OF

 22) SPECIFY THE EXTERIOR COVERING AT THE OVERHANGS.
