 ALTERATION PERMIT APPLICATION REVIEW COMMENTS ARE
 INCLUDED FOR CONVENIENCE.
 JANUARY 30, 2019
 I HAVE REVIEWED THE ABOVE REFERENCED PERMIT, AND
 PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS:
  
 1. TREES ARE REQUIRED IN THE LANDSCAPE ISLANDS AT THE
 ENTRANCE, AND IN THE LANDSCAPE ISLAND AND TERMINAL
 ISLAND ADJACENT TO THE DUMPSTER IN THE WEST ROW OF
 PARKING. PROVIDE THE REQUIRED TERMINAL LANDSCAPE ISLAND
 AT THE END OF EACH ROW OF PARKING WITH THE REQUIRED
 TREE. COCONUT PALM DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT.
  
 2. ON THE LANDSCAPE REQUIREMENTS CHART, CORRECT THE
 SITE LANDSCAPE CALCULATIONS TO SHOW THE SHADE TREE AND
 FLOWERING TREE CALCULATIONS BASED ON 40% REQUIRED OPEN
 SPACE, AND CORRECT THE FLOWERING TREE CALCULATIONS TO 1
 PER 6000 AS UPDATED IN CODE.
  
 3. UPDATE THE FLORIDA FRIENDLY LANDSCAPE DESIGN OPTIONS
 CHART TO PROVIDE ITEMS THAT QUALIFY.
 ? PROVIDE DESCRIPTION OF THE QUALIFYING EQUIPMENT FOR
 THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM OTHER THAN THE STATE REQUIRED
 RAIN SWITCH.
 ? SHRUBS DO NOT MEET THE 51% NATIVE CLAIMED. 706 TOTAL,
 125 NATIVE=17.75%.
 ? TREES MUST MEET THE 51% NATIVE CLAIMED.
  
 4. FOR THE DUMPSTER, PROVIDE THE REQUIRED HEDGE AROUND
 THE THREE SIDES OF THE ENCLOSURE. THIS CAN BE COMBINED
 WITH THE REQUIRED TERMINAL LANDSCAPE ISLAND AND TREE.
  
 5. SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 94-445 L. PLANT
 SPECIES. A MINIMUM OF 60 PERCENT OF PLANT MATERIAL
 ADDED SHALL BE FLORIDA NATIVE OR DROUGHT TOLERANT
 SPECIES SELECTED FROM THE CITY LIST OR THE LIST OF
 SPECIES IN THE MOST RECENT EDITION OF SOUTH FLORIDA
 WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT WATERWISE SOUTH FLORIDA
 LANDSCAPES. PROVIDE THE PERCENTAGE ON THE PLAN.
  
 6. PLEASE SHOW LOCATIONS OF WATER, SEWER, FIRE LINES,
 DRAINAGE LINES AND FPL TRANSFORMERS ON THE LANDSCAPE
 PLAN AND RESOLVE CONFLICTS WITH LANDSCAPING.
  
 7. LIGHTING LOCATIONS AND DESIGN NEED TO BE ADJUSTED TO
 AVOID CONFLICT WITH EXISTING AND REQUIRED TREES. THE
 LIGHTING ENGINEER NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF THESE
 REQUIREMENTS AND SITE CONDITIONS TO DESIGN LIGHTING TO
 BE EFFECTIVE AT ACCOMPLISHING THE PROPER LIGHTING OF
 THE PARKING AREA. SHORTER LIGHT POLES THAT ARE UNDER
 THE TREE CANOPY SHOULD BE USED AND PLACED
 APPROPRIATELY.
  
  
 COMMENTS ON TREE ALTERATION PERMIT APPLICATION
 TP19-1711:
 1. THE LARGE BLACK OLIVE TREES #6 AND #7ARE IN GOOD
 CONDITION, AND STAFF REQUESTS THAT ALTERNATIVE METHODS
 BE EXPLORED TO REPAIR THE PARKING LOT DAMAGE. THE TREES
 CAN BE PRUNED PROPERLY BY A CERTIFIED ARBORIST TO
 REDUCE THE CANOPY, CLEAN AND LIFT TO IMPROVE THE
 STRUCTURE AND ROOT PRUNE SO THE REPAIR THE ASPHALT
 SURFACE CAN BE COMPLETED. CURBS MAY BE REMOVED TO SAVE
 THE TREES. THE LANDSCAPE ISLAND CAN BE EXPANDED TO THE
 WEST FOR TREE #6.
  
 2. ALL THE TREES SHOULD BE EVALUATED AND PRUNED BY A
 CERTIFIED ARBORIST. THE LIVE OAK TREE #12 DOES NOT NEED
 TO BE REMOVED UNLESS THERE IS A GOOD REASON, AS IT IS A
 REQUIRED TREE. THIS SITE AND THE TREES HAVE BEEN
 UNMAINTAINED FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 YEARS, AND A DESIRABLE
 TREE CANOPY CAN BE SALVAGED FROM THE EXISTING TREES
 WITH SOME ATTENTION TO MAINTENANCE.
