 FIRE MARSHAL, BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION, WEST PALM
 BEACH FIRE RESCUE.
  
 THIS REVIEW CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED PRELIMINARY AS THE
 DRAWINGS THAT WERE REVIEWED WERE NOT COMPLETE.
 ADDITIONAL COMMENTS CAN BE EXPECTED WHEN FULL DRAWINGS
 ARE SUBMITTED FOR PERMIT.
  
 THE FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU HAS NO OBJECTIONS TO THE
 PROPOSED PROJECT.
  
 1. CONSTRUCTION, DEMOLITION, AND RENOVATION TO COMPLY
 WITH NFPA 241.
  
 2. SITE ACCESS AND EXIT POINTS ARE TO BE CLEARLY
 IDENTIFIED AND MAINTAINED FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES DURING
 ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
  
 3. THE BUILDING ADDRESS SHALL BE CLEARLY VISIBLE FROM
 ALL ACCESS ROADWAYS, INCLUDING DURING CONSTRUCTION.
 ADDRESS NUMBERS SHALL CONTRAST WITH THEIR BACKGROUND
 AND SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN SIX (6) INCHES IN HEIGHT
 WITH A ONE (1) INCH STROKE FOR ALL BUILDINGS.
  
 4. TRASH AND DEBRIS IS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE
 DAILY OR MORE OFTEN TO REDUCE THE ACCUMULATION OF
 POTENTIAL LIFE AND FIRE SAFETY HAZARDS.
  
 5. ALL APARTMENT BUILDINGS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE
 FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 2010 EDITION, THE LIFE
 SAFETY CODE, 2009 EDITION, INCLUDING MORE SPECIFICALLY,
 CHAPTER 30, NEW APARTMENTS.
  
 6. ALL PARKING STRUCTURES SHALL COMPLY WITH NFPA 88A,
 PARKING STRUCTURES AND NFPA 101, THE LIFE SAFETY CODE,
 INCLUDING MORE SPECIFICALLY, CHAPTER 42 STORAGE
 OCCUPANCIES (PARKING STRUCTURES)
  
 7. THE SEPARATION AND OPENING PROTECTION BETWEEN THE
 PARKING GARAGE AND HOTEL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE AND
 COMPLIANCE WITH THE SPECIFIC AND MOST STRINGENT
 PROVISION REQUIREMENT OF EITHER CHAPTER.
  
 8. FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS ROADS SHALL HAVE A SURFACE
 DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE FIRE APPARATUS WEIGHING AT
 LEAST 32 TONS. ACCESS ROADS SHALL HAVE AN UNOBSTRUCTED
 WIDTH OF NOT LESS THAN 20 FEET AND AN UNOBSTRUCTED
 VERTICAL CLEARANCE OF NOT LESS THAN 13 FEET 6 INCHES.
  
 9. FIRE LANES SHALL BE MARKED WITH FREESTANDING SIGNS
 READING, ?FIRE LANE - NO PARKING BY ORDER OF THE FIRE
 DEPARTMENT.? SIGNS SHALL BE 12? X 18? WITH A WHITE
 BACKGROUND AND RED LETTERS AND SHALL BE A MAXIMUM OF
 SEVEN FEET IN HEIGHT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SIGN. SIGNS
 SHALL BE WITHIN SIGHT OF THE TRAFFIC FLOW AND BE SPACED
 A MAXIMUM OF 60 FEET APART.
  
 10. STAIRS AND EGRESS COMPONENTS SHALL CONFORM TO THE
 LIFE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS OF CHAPTER 7 OF NFPA 101
 FLORIDA 2012 EDITION.
  
 11. STAIRWAY IDENTIFICATION: NEW ENCLOSED STAIRS
 SERVING THREE OR MORE STORIES AND EXISTING ENCLOSED
 STAIRS SERVING FIVE OR MORE STORIES SHALL COMPLY WITH
 (A) THROUGH (L).
 (A) THE STAIRS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH SPECIAL SIGNAGE
 WITHIN THE ENCLOSURE AT EACH FLOOR LANDING.
 (B) THE SIGNAGE SHALL INDICATE THE FLOOR LEVEL.
 (C) THE SIGNAGE SHALL INDICATE THE TERMINUS OF THE TOP
 AND BOTTOM OF THE STAIR ENCLOSURE.
 (D) THE SIGNAGE SHALL INDICATE THE IDENTIFICATION OF
 THE STAIR ENCLOSURE.
 (E) THE SIGNAGE SHALL INDICATE THE FLOOR LEVEL OF, AND
 THE DIRECTION TO, EXIT DISCHARGE.
 (F) THE SIGNAGE SHALL BE LOCATED INSIDE THE ENCLOSURE
 APPROXIMATELY 60-INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR LANDING IN A
 POSITION THAT IS VISIBLE WHEN THE DOOR IS IN THE OPEN
 OR CLOSED POSITION.
 (G) THE FLOOR LEVEL DESIGNATION SHALL ALSO BE TACTILE.
 (H) THE SIGNAGE SHALL BE PAINTED OR STENCILED ON THE
 WALL OR ON A SEPARATE SIGN SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE
 WALL.
 (I) THE STAIRWAY IDENTIFICATION LETTER SHALL BE LOCATED
 AT THE TOP OF THE SIGN IN MINIMUM 1-INCH HIGH
 LETTERING.
 (J) SIGNAGE THAT READS ?NO ROOF ACCESS? AND IS LOCATED
 UNDER THE STAIRWAY IDENTIFICATION LETTER SHALL
 DESIGNATE STAIRWAYS THAT DO NOT PROVIDE ROOF ACCESS.
 LETTERING SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 1-INCH HIGH.
 (K) THE FLOOR LEVEL NUMBER SHALL BE LOCATED IN THE
 MIDDLE OF THE SIGN IN MINIMUM 5-INCH HIGH NUMBERS.
 MEZZANINE LEVELS SHALL HAVE THE LETTER ?M? OR OTHER
 APPROPRIATE IDENTIFICATION LETTER PRECEDING THE FLOOR
 NUMBER, WHILE BASEMENT LEVELS SHALL HAVE THE LETTER ?B?
 OR OTHER APPROPRIATE IDENTIFICATION LETTER PRECEDING
 THE FLOOR LEVEL NUMBER.
 (L) IDENTIFICATION OF THE LOWER AND UPPER TERMINUS OF
 THE STAIRWAY SHALL BE LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SIGN
 IN MINIMUM 1-INCH HIGH LETTERS OR NUMBERS.
  
 12. EACH ELEVATOR LANDING AND LOBBY SHALL HAVE ACCESS
 TO AT LEAST ONE EXIT. EXIT ACCESS SHALL NOT REQUIRE THE
 USE OF A KEY, TOOL, SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, OR SPECIAL
 EFFORT.
  
 13. ALL NEW ELEVATORS SHALL CONFORM TO THE FIRE
 FIGHTER?S EMERGENCY OPERATIONS REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 SAFETY CODE FOR ELEVATORS.
  
 14. PROVIDE FIRE LOAD CALCULATIONS FOR THIS PROJECT AND
 ENSURE THE WATER SUPPLY MEETS THE REQUIREMENT.
  
 15. EACH BUILDING SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THEIR OWN FIRE
 HYDRANT(WATER SUPPLY) AND FDC CONNECTIONS WITHIN 150'.
 CLOSE COORDINATION WITH THE FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU FOR
 ADAQUATE LOCATIONS IS STRONGLY ENCORAGED.
  
 16. A NFPA 13 COMPLAINT FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM AND NFPA
 14 COMPLIANT WET STANDPIPE SYSTEM ARE REQUIRED FOR EACH
 STRUCTURE. TEMPORARY STANDPIPES ARE REQUIRED WHEN THE
 BUILDING REACHES THREE LEVELS OR THIRTY FEET WHILE
 BEING CONSTRUCTED. SEPARATE SHOP DRAWINGS, ARE REQUIRED
 TO BE SUBMITTED, REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE FIRE
 PREVENTION BUREAU PRIOR TO ANY INSTALLATION.
  
 17. FOR ISSUANCE OF A GENERAL BUILDING PERMIT, SECTION
 105.3.1.2(2) OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE REQUIRES
 SEALED FIRE PROTECTION CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR THE
 DESIGN OR ALTERATION OF 50 OR MORE AUTOMATIC FIRE
 SPRINKLERS.
  
 18. A MONITORED FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IS REQUIRED FOR EACH
 STRUCTURE. SEPARATE SHOP DRAWINGS, ARE REQUIRED TO BE
 SUBMITTED, REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE FIRE PREVENTION
 BUREAU PRIOR TO ANY INSTALLATION.
  
 19. COMPLETE LIFE SAFETY PLANS FOR EACH OCCUPANCY SHALL
 BE PROVIDED THAT ILLUSTRATE OCCUPANT LOADS, TRAVEL
 DISTANCES, COMMON PATHS OF TRAVEL, DEAD-END CORRIDORS,
 EXIT SIGNS, EMERGENCY LIGHTING, EXITS LEADING TO A
 PUBLIC WAY, FIRE EXTINGUISHER LOCATIONS, AND ALL FIRE
 SAFETY FEATURES AND EQUIPMENT.
  
 20. ALL ELEVATORS SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A REGION 7
 KEYWAY SYSTEM. ANY BUILDING THAT IS MORE THAN THREE
 STORIES HIGH OR IN WHICH THE VERTICAL DISTANCE BETWEEN
 THE BOTTOM TERMINAL LANDING AND THE TOP TERMINAL
 LANDING EXCEEDS 25 FEET MUST BE CONSTRUCTED TO CONTAIN
 AT LEAST ONE PASSENGER ELEVATOR THAT IS OPERATIONAL AND
 WILL ACCOMMODATE AN AMBULANCE STRETCHER 76 INCHES LONG
 AND 24 INCHES WIDE IN THE HORIZONTAL POSITION.
  
 21. KNOX-BOX KEY SYSTEM SHALL BE REQUIRED FOR EACH
 BUILDING.
  
 22. FLORIDA STATUTE 553.885CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM
 REQUIRED.?
 ?(1)EVERY SEPARATE BUILDING OR ADDITION TO AN EXISTING
 BUILDING, OTHER THAN A HOSPITAL, AN INPATIENT HOSPICE
 FACILITY, OR A NURSING HOME FACILITY LICENSED BY THE
 AGENCY FOR HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION, CONSTRUCTED ON
 OR AFTER JULY 1, 2008, AND HAVING A FOSSIL-FUEL-BURNING
 HEATER OR APPLIANCE, A FIREPLACE, AN ATTACHED GARAGE,
 OR OTHER FEATURE, FIXTURE, OR ELEMENT THAT EMITS CARBON
 MONOXIDE AS A BYPRODUCT OF COMBUSTION SHALL HAVE AN
 APPROVED OPERATIONAL CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM INSTALLED
 WITHIN 10 FEET OF EACH ROOM USED FOR SLEEPING PURPOSES
 IN THE NEW BUILDING OR ADDITION, OR AT SUCH OTHER
 LOCATIONS AS REQUIRED BY THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE. THE
 REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SUBSECTION MAY BE SATISFIED WITH
 THE INSTALLATION OF A HARD-WIRED OR BATTERY-POWERED
 CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM OR A HARD-WIRED OR
 BATTERY-POWERED COMBINATION CARBON MONOXIDE AND SMOKE
 ALARM. FOR A NEW HOSPITAL, AN INPATIENT HOSPICE
 FACILITY, A NURSING HOME FACILITY LICENSED BY THE
 AGENCY FOR HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION, OR A NEW STATE
 CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION, AN APPROVED OPERATIONAL
 CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR SHALL BE INSTALLED INSIDE OR
 DIRECTLY OUTSIDE OF EACH ROOM OR AREA WITHIN THE
 HOSPITAL OR FACILITY WHERE A FOSSIL-FUEL-BURNING
 HEATER, ENGINE, OR APPLIANCE IS LOCATED. THIS DETECTOR
 SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM OF THE
 HOSPITAL OR FACILITY AS A SUPERVISORY SIGNAL. THIS
 SUBSECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO EXISTING BUILDINGS THAT
 ARE UNDERGOING ALTERATIONS OR REPAIRS UNLESS THE
 ALTERATION IS AN ADDITION AS DEFINED IN SUBSECTION (3).
  
 23. ALL KITCHEN EQUIPMENT AND OPERATIONS SHALL COMPLY
 WITH NFPA 96, STANDARD FOR VENTILATION CONTROL AND FIRE
 PROTECTION OF COMMERCIAL COOKING OPERATIONS.
 EXTINGUISHMENT AND VENTILATION SYSTEM SHOP DRAWINGS
 SHALL BE SUBMITTED SEPARATELY FOR APPROVAL.
  
 24. FLAME SPREAD DETAILS ON ALL FOAM BACKED STUCCO TRIM
 PLANNED FOR BUILDING SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR AND/OR
 IDENTIFIED AND INDICATED ON THE PLAN.
  
 25. ALL VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL FIRE SEPARATIONS FOR
 THIS BUILDING SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AND INDICATED
 ON THE PLANS.
  
 26. ALL FIRE RATED OPENING PROTECTIONS (FIRE DOORS AND
 HARDWARE) SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AND INDICATED IN
 THE DOOR SCHEDULE. ALL DOORS THAT OPEN ONTO EXIT ACCESS
 CORRIDORS SHALL BE AT LEAST 20 MINUTE FIRE RATED AND BE
 EQUIPPED WITH SELF-CLOSING DEVICES THAT CAUSE THE DOOR
 TO POSITIVELY
  
 27. SMOKE ALARMS ARE REQUIRED IN EVERY SLEEPING ROOM
 AND OUTSIDE OF THE SLEEPING ROOMS AND IN ALL LEVELS OF
 THE DWELLING UNITS. THESE DETECTORS SHALL BE HARD WIRED
 AND SHALL BE INTERCONNECTED TO ONE ANOTHER.
  
 28. INTERIOR FINISH CLASSIFICATIONS FOR ALL WALLS AND
 CEILINGS SHALL BE CLEARLY INDICATED ON THE SUBMITTED
 BUILDING PERMIT PLAN.
  
 29. THE BUREAU'S APPROVAL REVIEW OF THIS SUBMITTED
 PROJECT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE IT'S FINAL REVIEW OR FINAL
 APPROVAL.
  
 30. THE BUREAU SHALL REVIEW ALL SUBMITTED BUILDING
 PLANS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA 101,
 2012 FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE AND ALL THE
 APPLICABLE CODES AND STANDARDS.
