 FIRE STATION # 5 AND EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
 700 NORTH CONGRESS AVENUE
  
 1. ON COVER SHEET, PHILLIP T. WEBB IS LISTED AS FIRE
 CHIEF. CHIEF WEBB HAS RETIRED AND CARLOS S. CABRERA IS
 THE NEW FIRE CHIEF.
  
 2. CONSTRUCTION, DEMOLITION, AND RENOVATION TO COMPLY
 WITH NFPA 241.
  
 3. EXISTING FIRE STATION SHALL BE ABLE TO REMAIN IN
 FULL OPERATION DURING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES OF NEW
 FACILITY. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE WITH FIRE RESCUE
 STAFF TO AVOID ANY POSSIBLE DISRUPTIONS.
  
 4. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR NEW
 UNDERGROUND FUEL DIESEL TANK.
  
 5. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR THE LP GAS
 TANK SHOWN ON COVER SHEET II.
  
 6. A PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE
 EXISTING FIRE STATION AFTER THE NEW FACILITY IS
 INSPECTED, TESTED, AND APPROVED BY CITY OFFICIALS.
  
 7. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR ANY SECURITY
 GATES AND FENCES.
  
 8. THE BUILDING ADDRESS IS REQUIRED TO BE AFFIXED TO
 THE BUILDING. A MINIMUM OF AT LEAST 6" HIGH AND AT
 LEAST 1" WIDE NUMBERS ARE REQUIRED.
  
 9. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR ANY
 GENERATOR SYSTEM RELOCATIONS.
  
 10. PROPER COORDINATION IS EXPECTED DURING PHASE 1,
 PHASE 2, AND PHASE 3 OF CONSTRUCTION.
  
 11. TACTILE SIGNAGE REQUIRED AT ALL EXIT DOORS.
  
 12. ALL NEW STAIRS AND RAMPS WILL REQUIRE HANDRAILS.
  
 13. THE FIRE HYDRANT PROPOSED WITHIN THE ENCLOSED FIRE
 STATION PARKING LOT SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A MINIMUM OF
 7'-6" CLEARANCE TO THE FRONT AND SIDES AND AT LEAST 4'
 FEET TO THE REAR OF IT.
  
 14. HOW DOES FIRE RESCUE STAFF ACCESS THROUGH THE GATES
 FROM CONGRESS AVENUE?
  
 15. ELECTRIC IS TO BE PROVIDED AT THE FLAG POLE TO
 COMPLY WITH FLAG REGULATIONS IF FLAG IS TO REMAIN UP
 DURING NIGHT-TIME PERIODS.
  
 16. PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ON PLANTING ANY FICUS TYPE
 HEDGES AT THE SITE AS THEY CREATE EXTENSIVE MAINTENANCE
 ISSUES.
  
 17. PLEASE ENSURE THAT PROPER DRAINAGE IS PROVIDED FOR
 THE RETAINING WALL AREA.
  
 18. PLEASE INDICATE INTERIOR FINISH CLASSIFICATIONS FOR
 WALLS AND CEILINGS.
  
 19. PLEASE PROVIDE A LIFE SAFETY PLAN.
  
 20. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR THE
 HOOD,DUCT, AND FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM PLANNED FOR THE
 KITCHEN.
  
 21. PLEASE INDICATE ALL VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL FIRE
 SEPARATIONS.
  
 22. PLEASE PROVIDE A DOOR SCHEDULE INDICATING ALL FIRE
 RATED DOORS.
  
 23. SMOKE DETECTORS ARE REQUIRED IN ALL AREAS WHERE
 SLEEPING ACTIVITIES OCCUR.
  
 24. ALL DRIVING AND PARKING SURFACES ARE EXPECTED TO
 SUPPORT HEAVY LOADS OF FIRE, PARAMEDICAL, NEWS, AND
 DELIVERY VEHICLES. THIS INCLUDES THE OVERFLOW PARKING
 AREA AS WELL. AREAS SUBJECT TO THESE WEIGHT LOADS SHALL
 BE ABLE TO SUPPORT AT LEAST 32 TONS.
  
 25. ALL FIRE RATED WALLS ARE TO BE PROPERLY LABELED AND
 IDENTIFIED.
  
 26. ACCESS CONTROL SECURITY DEVICES ARE TO BE INSTALLED
 AT THIS FACILITY.
  
 27. AN EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM IS ALSO EXPECTED
 TO BE INSTALLED AT THIS LOCATION.
  
 28. A KNOX-BOX WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS FACILITY.
  
 29. MORE DETAILS NEEDED ON PROPOSED 911 MEMORIAL
 PLANNED BY OTHERS.
  
 30. EXIT STAIRS ARE TO BE RATED WITH AT LEAST ONE HOUR
 FIRE RATED CONSTRUCTION AND BE PROTECTED WITH AT LEAST
 45 MINUTE OPENING PROTECTIVE DEVICES AND BE EQUIPPED
 WITH SELF-CLOSING DEVICES.
  
 31. NEW STAIRS ARE TO COMPLY WITH NEW STAIR
 REQUIREMENTS.
  
 32. THE INSTALLATION OF CONSTRUCTION FENCING SHALL NOT
 INTERFERE WITH THE USE OF THE EXISTING FIRE STATION OR
 WITH CITIZEN'S ACCESSING THE FACILITY OR ITS SERVICES.
  
 33. SEPARATE PLANS AND PERMITS REQUIRED FOR FIRE
 SPRINKLER AND FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
 IS TO BE MONITORED BY A LICENSED FIRE ALARM COMPANY
 APPROVED FOR CENTRAL STATION SERVICE.
  
 34. EXIT SIGNS, EMERGENCY LIGHTS, AND PORTABLE FIRE
 EXTINGUISHERS ARE TO BE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE
 FACILITY.
  
 35. CAREFUL COORDINATION IS TO OCCUR WITH REGARDS TO
 CONSTRUCTION AND PERMITTING IN PHASES.
  
 37. LOCKS THAT REQUIRE A KEY FROM THIE INSIDE OF THE
 ROOM (EXIT DOOR) IS NOT PERMITTED.
  
 38. PLEASE SUBMIT COMPLETE ARCHITECTURAL, MECHANICAL,
 ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, FIRE SPRINKLER AND FIRE ALARM
 PLANS TO THE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
  
 39. TAMPER SWITCHES, A CHAIN AND LOCK ARE REQUIRED ON
 THE FIRE LINE BACKFLOW DEVICE.
  
 40. CAREFUL LOCATIONS OF ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND
 SERVICES WILL BE REQUIRED AS THE EXISTING FIRE STATION
 WILL REMAIN IN OPERATION.
  
 41. COORDINATION IS TO OCCUR WITH REGARDS TO ANY
 TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR THE FIRE STATION.
  
 42. TO ENSURE TIMELY COMPLETION AND UNNECESSARY CHANGE
 ORDERS, EQUIPMENT PLACEMENT AND WIRING IS TO BE
 ADEQUATELY ANALYZED TO PREVENT AFTER CONSTRUCTION
 MISTAKES OR AFTERTHOUGHTS.
