 2017 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE W 2017 WEST PALM BEACH
 AMENDMENTS TO THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, CHAPTER 1,
 ADMINISTRATION.
  
 ORIGINAL COMMENT:
 1) THE DEMO FLOOR PLAN AND THE SHEET A1.0 ARCHITECTURAL
 FLOOR PLAN SHOW ONE WINDOW PAIN AND EGRESS DOOR
 SWAPPING PLACES. THE 2017 WEST PALM BEACH AMENDMENTS TO
 THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, CHAPTER 1, ADMINISTRATIVE
 CODE SECTION 104.9.1 USED MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT. THE
 USE OF USED, RECYCLED, OR RECLAIMED MATERIALS WHICH
 MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS CODE FOR NEW MATERIALS IS
 PERMITTED. THE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT SHALL NOT BE
 REUSED UNLESS APPROVED BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL.
  
 I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE BUILDING OFFICIAL ROBERT BROWN
 ABOUT THE REUSE OF THE DOOR, FRAME AND GLAZING FOR BOTH
 THE DOOR AND SIDE LIGHT. THE BUILDING OFFICIAL IS OK
 WITH THE REUSE OF THE PRODUCT AS LONG AS YOU CAN
 PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION THAT THE PRODUCT (DOOR & WINDOW
 STOREFRONT SYSTEM) WILL MEET TODAY CODE (WIND LOADS)
 AND PROVIDE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE POSITIVE
 AND NEGATIVE PRESSURES THAT WILL OCCUR ON THE
 STOREFRONT, FRAMING MEMBERS, GLAZING AND PROVIDE AN
 ANCHORING OF SAID SYSTEMS MEETING TODAYS WIND LOADS.
  
 RESPONSE:
 ONLY THE DOOR PRODUCT APPROVAL WAS SUBMITTED. THERE IS
 NO PRODUCT APPROVAL SUBMITTED FOR THE FIXED WINDOW.
 ALSO, DOOR PRODUCT APPROVAL FL8712-R5 SUBMITTED IS FOR
 A DOOR WITH GLAZING THAT HAS NO IMPACT PROTECTION. SEC.
 707.4 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF
 WINDOWS/DOORS TO COMPLY WITH CHAPTER 16 OF THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, BUILDING. THEREFORE, GLAZING OF THE DOOR
 REQUIRES IMPACT PROTECTION AS REQUIRED BY SEC. 1609.1.2
 FBC-BUILDING. SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH THE IMPACT
 PROTECTION. IF USING HURRICANE SHUTTERS, THEN PROVIDE
 SHUTTERS PRODUCT APPROVAL AS REQUIRED BY SEC.
 61G20-3.001 FAC. AND COMPLETE SHUTTERS INSTALLATION
 SCHEDULE AS REQUIRED BY CITY POLICY FOR SHUTTERS
 INSTALLATION.
  
  
 ORIGINAL COMMENT:
 2) NEW ROOF TOP RTU AND CURB. THE MECHANICAL SHEET M2
 REFERS TO THE ARCHITECTURAL SHEETS FOR THE CURB
 MOUNTING DETAILS. THE S1.0 SHEET DOES SHOW HOW TO
 RE-ENFORCE THE BAR JOIST AND METAL ROOF DECK BUT THE
 PLAN IS SILENT OF THE ATTACHMENT OF THE RTU CURB TO THE
 ROOF FRAMING MEMBERS NOR THE RTU UNIT TO THE CURB.
  
 LATERAL FORCE-RESISTING SYSTEM. FOR ALL ROOF TOP
 EQUIPMENT, CURBS, FANS OR A/C STANDS, AND OR VENTS,
 DETAILED ATTACHMENT TO THE ROOF FRAMING & DECK AS WELL
 AS FROM THE CURB OR ROOF STAND TO THE EQUIPMENT ABOVE.
  
 2017 FBC-B 1604.4 ANALYSIS. LOAD EFFECTS ON STRUCTURAL
 MEMBERS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY
 METHODS OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS THAT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT
 EQUILIBRIUM, GENERAL STABILITY, GEOMETRIC COMPATIBILITY
 AND BOTH SHORT- AND LONG-TERM MATERIAL PROPERTIES.
 EVERY STRUCTURE SHALL BE DESIGNED TO RESIST THE
 OVERTURNING EFFECTS CAUSED BY THE LATERAL FORCES
 SPECIFIED IN THIS CHAPTER. SEE SECTION 1609 FOR WIND
 LOADS.
  
  
 RESPONSE:
 STRUCTURAL PLANS DON'T PROVIDE DETAILS ANS
 SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE ATTACHMENT OF THE RTU CURB TO
 THE ROOF FRAMING MEMBERS AS REQUESTED. DETAILS
 SUBMITTED ON SHEET S1.1 AND S1.2 ARE ONLY THE PRODUCT
 APPROVALS FOR ATTACHMENT OF THE MECHANICAL UNIT TO THE
 CURB. NOTE ON CURB MOUNT APPLICATIONS CONFIGURATION B
 ON PAGE 2 OF FLORIDA PRODUCT APPROVAL FL26981 CLEARLY
 STATE THAT "DESIGN & INSTALLATION OF CURB TO JOIST BY
 OTHERS PER SITE SPECIFIC CONDITIONS". ENGINEER OF
 RECORD TO PROVIDE THESE INFORMATION. SEC. 1603.1

 6) WHEN RESUBMITTING PLANS PLEASE INDICATE THE REVISION
 & REMOVE ANY VOIDED SHEETS & REPLACE ANY PAGES AS
 NECESSARY. A TRANSMITTAL LETTER LISTING THE ORIGINAL
 REVIEW COMMENT NUMBER, WITH A DESCRIPTION OF THE
 REVISION MADE, IDENTIFYING THE SHEET OR SPECIFICATION
 PAGE WHERE THE CHANGES CAN BE FOUND WILL HELP TO
