 804.1.1 STATES THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM ALSO NEEDS TO
 INCLUDE THE EXIT STAIRWAY(S).

 SECTION 804.1.1 IS A SUBSECTION TO 804.1, WHICH STATES
 THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION ARE LIMITED TO THE
 WORK AREA. SECTION 804.1.1 THEN PROVIDES A CAVEAT. YOU
 NEED TO SPRINKLER OUTSIDE YOUR WORK AREA IF YOU WANT TO
 TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CORRIDOR RATING REDUCTION. YOU
 ALREADY EXCEED THIS REQUIREMENT ALREADY AS YOUR
 BUILDING IS FULLY-SPRINKLERED.
  
 I HAVE COME ACROSS STUFF LIKE THIS BEFORE. THE INTENT
 OF THIS SECTION IS TO BE APPLIED TO A NON-SPRINKLERED
 OR PARTIALLY-SPRINKLERED BUILDING. IN A NON-SPRINKLERED
 (OR PARTIALLY-SPRINKLERED) BUILDING YOU COULD INSTALL A
 SPRINKLER SYSTEM AS DESCRIBED AND REDUCE THE CORRIDOR
 RATING EVEN THOUGH YOUR BUILDING ISN?T COMPLETELY
 SPRINKLERED (NEW CONSTRUCTION REQUIRES THE BUILDING TO
 BE COMPLETELY SPRINKLERED TO ELIMINATE THE CORRIDOR
 RATINGS. SEE SECTION 1020.1).
  
 YOUR BUILDING IS COMPLETELY SPRINKLERED. IN A
 COMPLETELY SPRINKLERED BUILDING, YOU DO NOT NEED TO
 SPRINKLER THE LANDINGS AS DESCRIBED. PUTTING IT
 DIFFERENTLY, THE CODE OFFICIAL WOULD CLEARLY RATHER
 SOMEONE SPRINKLER THE ENTIRE BUILDING IN COMPLIANCE
 WITH NFPA 13 (WITHOUT SPRINKLERS AT THE LANDINGS) THAN
 WHAT IS PERMITTED BY THAT SECTION.
  
 THIS CODE IS SPECIFICALLY WRITTEN TO BE LESS
 RESTRICTIVE THAN THE CODE FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION. IF THIS
 SECTION WERE APPLIED TO YOUR BUILDING, IT WOULD BE IN
 EXCESS OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION.

 THE INTENT OF THIS CODE IS TO PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY TO
 PERMIT THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE APPROACHES TO ACHIEVE
 COMPLIANCE WITH MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO SAFEGUARD THE
 PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE INSOFAR AS THEY ARE
 AFFECTED BY THE REPAIR, ALTERATION, CHANGE OF
 OCCUPANCY, ADDITION AND RELOCATION OF EXISTING
 BUILDINGS.
