 1. THE PERMIT APPLICATION STATES THAT THIS IS A "STAIR
 LIFT" AND IS "ADA/FHA" APPROVED. FHA IS NOT APPLICABLE
 FOR THIS PROJECT.
  
 2. SEE FBC B 1003.6, MEANS OF EGRESS CONTINUITY, THE
 PATH OF EGRESS TRAVEL ALONG A MEANS OF EGRESS SHALL NOT
 BE INTERRUPTED BY ANY BUILDING ELEMENT OTHER THAN A
 MEANS OF EGRESS COMPONENT AS SPECIFIED IN THIS CHAPTER.
 IT APPEARS THAT THE PROPOSED INSTALLATION INTERFERES
 WITH THE REQUIRED STAIR HANDRAIL (REQUIRED ON BOTH
 SIDES OF THE STAIR).
  
 TRAVEL DISTANCE IS NOT CLEAR; IT IS SHOWN TO THE TOP OF
 THE STAIR. TRAVEL DISTANCE IS TO BE SHOWN TO AN EXIT -
 IS THIS AN ENCLOSED EXIT STAIR? NO DOOR IS SHOWN. FBC
 107, REVISE PLAN TO CLARIFY.
  
 PROVIDE A DETAIL TO SHOW HOW THE PROPOSED INSTALLATION
 AFFECTS THE STAIR. PLAN SHOWS A REDUCTION IN WIDTH;
 DOESN'T THIS MEAN THAT THE ACCESS TO THE HAND RAIL IS
 AFFECTED? IT IS NOT CLEAR HOW THE WIDTH IS REDUCED AND
 STILL COMPLIES WITH THE REQUIREMENTS FOR STAIRS IN FBC
 B CHAPTER 10.
  
 3. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO WHERE A CHAIR LIFT IS PERMITTED,
 SEE FBC BUILDING AND FBC ACCESSIBILITY. FBC 410
 ADDRESSES "PLATFORM LIFTS". THE PROPOSED CHAIR LIFT
 DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A PLATFORM
 LIFT.

 TRANSFER FROM WHEELED MOBILITY AIDS."
  
 BASED ON THE PLANS PROVIDED, IT APPEARS THAT A
 RESIDENTIAL CHAIR LIFT IS PROPOSED FOR A COMMERCIAL
 OFFICE BUILDING. UTILIZING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A
 REQUIRED MEANS OF EGRESS FROM THE SECOND FLOOR FOR A
 LIFT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE PERMITTED.
  
 FOR OPTIONS FOR VERTICAL ACCESSIBILITY, PLEASE SEE FBC
 A CHAPTER 4 (RAMP, ELEVATOR, LULA, PLATFORM LIFT).
 REVISE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
  
 ALTHOUGH THIS IS A VOLUNTARY INSTALLATION RATHER THAN A
 MANDATORY INSTALLATION, COMPLIANCE WITH FBC
 ACCESSIBILITY IS REQUIRED. SEE FBC B 3002, DEFINITION
 OF "ELEVATOR", AND FBC A 3001.3 WHICH REQUIRES THAT
 ELEVATORS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ACCESSIBLE. THE PROPOSED
 INSTALLATION IS NOT CONSIDERED ACCESSIBLE.
