 REVIEW COMMENTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT
  
 GENERAL: PER NFPA 241 SECTION 8.7.2.3, WHERE
 UNDERGROUND WATER MAINS AND HYDRANTS ARE TO BE
 PROVIDED, THEY SHALL BE INSTALLED, COMPLETED, AND IN
 SERVICE PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION WORK.
  
 GENERAL: PROVIDE DRAWING NOTE INDICATING ALL
 CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WORK SHALL CONFORM TO THE
 REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA 241. TRASH AND CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS
 SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE DAILY. SMOKING SHALL BE
 PROHIBITED EXCEPT IN DESIGNATED EXTERIOR AREAS. ALL
 OTHER DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION AREAS SHALL HAVE "NO
 SMOKING" SIGNS POSTED. WHERE SMOKING IS PERMITTED, SAFE
 RECEPTACLES FOR SMOKING MATERIALS SHALL BE PROVIDED.
  
 GENERAL: INDICATE IF ANY TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION
 TRAILERS ARE INTEDED TO OCCUPY THE SITE: PER NFPA 241
 SECTION 4.2.2: DETACHMENT BETWEEN TEMPORARY STRUCTURES,
 ADEQUATE TEMPORARY FIXED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS, AND
 PORTABLE EQUIPMENT SHALL BE PROVIDED AS REQUIRED BY THE
 AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION.
 PER NFPA 241- STANDARD FOR SAFEGUARDING CONSTRUCTION,
 ALTERATION, AND DEMOLITION OPERATIONS, SECTION 4.2:
 TEMPORARY OFFICES, TRAILERS, AND OTHER FACILITIES OF
 COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION OR HOUSING COMBUSTIBLE
 CONTENTS SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM ADJACENT BUILDINGS,
 TRAILERS OR STRUCTURES IN ACCORDANCE WITH TABLE 4.2.1.
 PER TABLE 4.2.1:
 1) 20 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM
 ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 30 FEET
 2) 30 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM
 ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 35 FEET
 3) 40 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM
 ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 40 FEET
 4) 50 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM
 ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 45 FEET
 5) 60 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM
 ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 50 FEET
 6) GREATER THAN 60 FEET EXPOSED LENGTH SHALL BE
 SEPARATED FROM ADJACENT STRUCTURES BY AT LEAST 60 FEET
 **A 75 PERCENT REDUCTION IN SEPARATION DISTANCES SHALL
 BE PERMITTED TO BE APPLIED, PROVIDED AUTOMATIC
 SPRINKLER PROTECTION IS USED IN THE EXPOSING STRUCTURE.
  
 SHEET PWS-1: BOTH FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTIONS ARE
 LOCATED IN PARKING ISLANDS WITH PARKING SPACES ON BOTH
 SIDES. PER FFPC (NFPA 1) SECTION 18.3.4.2, FIRE
 HYDRANTS AND FIRE PROTECTION APPLIANCES SHALL BE
 PROVIDED WITH CLEARANCES OF 7'-6" TO THE FRONT AND
 SIDES OF THE APPLIANCE.
  
 SHEET PWS-1: PER NFPA 24 SECTION 6.2.1, ALL CONNECTIONS
 TO PRIVATE FIRE SERVICE MAINS FOR FIRE PROTECTION
 SYSTEMS SHALL BE ARRANGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ONE OF THE
 FOLLOWING SO THAT THEY CAN BE ISOLATED:
 (1) A POST INDICATOR VALVE INSTALLED NOT LESS THAN 40
 FEET FROM THE BUILDING.
 (A) FOR BUILDINGS LESS THAN 40 FEET IN HEIGHT, A POST
 INDICATOR VALVE SHALL BE PERMITTED TO BE INSTALLED
 CLOSER THAN 40 FEET BUT AT LEAST AS FAR FROM THE
 BUILDING AS THE HEIGHT OF THE WALL FACING THE POST
 INDICATOR VALVE.
 (2) A WALL POST INDICATOR VALVE
 (3) AN INDICATING VALVE IN A PIT, INSTALLED IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6.4
 (4) A BACKFLOW PREVENTER WITH AT LEAST ONE INDICATING
 VALVE NOT LESS THAN 40 FEET FROM THE BUILDING.
 (A) FOR BUILDINGS LESS THAN 40 FEET IN HEIGHT, A
 BACKFLOW PREVENTER WITH AT LEAST ONE INDICATING VALVE
 SHALL BE PERMITTED TO BE INSTALLED CLOSER THAN 40 FEET
 BUT AT LEAST AS FAR FROM THE BUILDING AS THE HEIGHT OF
 THE WALL FACING THE BACKFLOW PREVENTER.
 (5) CONTROL VALVES INSTALLED IN A FIRE-RATED ROOM
 ACCESSIBLE FROM THE EXTERIOR
 (6) CONTROL VALVES IN A FIRE-RATED STAIR ENCLOSURE
 ACCESSIBLE FROM THE EXTERIOR AS PERMITTED BY THE
 AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION
  
 SHEET PWS-1: PROVIDE CHAIN WITH LOCK AND TAMPER
 SWITCHES FOR SUPERVISING THE BACKFLOW PREVENTER IN THE
 OPEN POSITION. PROVIDE LOCKING KNOX CAPS ON FIRE
 DEPARTMENT CONNECTION.
  
 SHEET LP-2: TWO GREEN BUTTONWOOD TREES ARE LOCATED IN
 THE PARKING ISLANDS HOUSING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
 CONNECTIONS. PER FFPC (NFPA 1) SECTION 18.3.4.2, FIRE
 HYDRANTS AND FIRE PROTECTION APPLIANCES SHALL BE
 PROVIDED WITH CLEARANCES OF 7'-6" TO THE FRONT AND
 SIDES OF THE APPLIANCE.
  
 SHEET A-0.01: THE TURNING RADIUS APPEARS TO BE TOO
 SMALL TO ACCOMODATE A 47'-0" LONG LADDER TRUCK FOR THE
 PARKING LOT ACCESS ROAD DIRECTLY SOUTH OF THE CLUBHOUSE
 (NOT THE DROP-OFF AREA).
  
 SHEET 1A-1.04 & 1A-9.01: THE CENTER STAIR APPEARS TO BE
 COMPLETELY ENCLOSED (WALLS AND ROOF) AND COULD RESULT
 IN AN ACCUMULATION OF SMOKE IN A FIRE EVENT. THE STAIR
 NEEDS TO BE OPEN OR WOULD NEED TO BE PROTECTED AS AN
 ENCLOSED STAIR WITH FIRE RATED CONSTRUCTION, PROTECTED
 OPENINGS/PENETRATIONS AND NOT BE OPEN TO OTHER
 COMBUSTIBLES SUCH AS THE ELEVATOR CONTROL CLOSET.
  
 SHEET 1A-1.04: CONFIRM THE ELEVATOR CONTROL CLOSET DOES
 NOT NEED A FIRE RESISTANCE RATING WITH PROTECTED
 OPENINGS.
  
 SHEET E.01: CONFIRM LIGHTING FIXTURE TYPE C PROVIDING
 STAIR ILLUMINATION ALSO PROVIDES EMERGENCY LIGHTING.
  
 SHEET E5.1: FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL APPEARS TO BE

 ALL COORDINATED. PLANS ALSO SHOW AN FDC AT THE
 CLUBHOUSE; HOWEVER, THE CLUBHOUSE PERMIT DOES NOT
 INDICATE THIS BUILDING IS SPRINKLERED.
  
 FBC SECTION 105.4.1 PERMIT INTENT: A PERMIT ISSUED
 SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO BE A LICENSE TO PROCEED WITH THE
 WORK AND NOT AS AUTHORITY TO VIOLATE, CANCEL, ALTER OR
 SET ASIDE ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE TECHNICAL CODES,
 NOR SHALL ISSUANCE OF A PERMIT PREVENT THE BUILDING
 OFFICIAL FROM THEREAFTER REQUIRING A CORRECTION OF
 ERRORS IN PLANS, CONSTRUCTION OR VIOLATIONS OF THIS
 CODE. REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY THE AHJ SHALL NOT RELIEVE
 THE OWNER, CONTRACTOR, ETC. OF THE RESPONSIBILITY OF
 COMPLIANCE WITH CODE (NFPA 1, SECTION 1.14.4).
