 INTERIOR FINISH. THE PROVISIONS OF SECTIONS 912.2 AND
 912.3 FOR FIRE PROTECTION AND INTERIOR FINISH,
 RESPECTIVELY, SHALL APPLY TO ALL BUILDINGS UNDERGOING A
 CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION.
  
 2A) EX BLDG CODE 912.2.1 FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. WHERE A
 CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION OCCURS THAT REQUIRES
 AN AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO BE PROVIDED BASED
 ON THE NEW OCCUPANCY IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 9 OF
 THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING , SUCH SYSTEM SHALL
 BE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE AREA WHERE THE CHANGE OF

 2B) EX BLDG CODE 912.2.2 FIRE ALARM AND DETECTION
 SYSTEM. WHERE A CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION
 OCCURS THAT REQUIRES A FIRE ALARM AND DETECTION SYSTEM
 TO BE PROVIDED BASED ON THE NEW OCCUPANCY IN ACCORDANCE
 WITH CHAPTER 9 OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING ,
 SUCH SYSTEM SHALL BE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE AREA WHERE
 THE CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY OCCURS. EXISTING ALARM
 NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES SHALL BE AUTOMATICALLY
 ACTIVATED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING. WHERE THE BUILDING
 IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A FIRE ALARM SYSTEM, ALARM
 NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES SHALL BE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT
 THE AREA WHERE THE CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY OCCURS AND SHALL
 BE AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED.
  
 FBC-B [F] 907.2.6 GROUP I. A MANUAL FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
 SHALL BE INSTALLED IN GROUP I OCCUPANCIES. AN
 ELECTRICALLY SUPERVISED, AUTOMATIC SMOKE DETECTION
 SYSTEM SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTIONS
 907.2.6.1 AND 907.2.6.2.
  
 EXCEPTION: MANUAL FIRE ALARM BOXES IN RESIDENT OR
 PATIENT SLEEPING AREAS OF GROUP I-1 AND I-2 OCCUPANCIES
 SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED AT EXITS IF LOCATED AT ALL
 NURSES' CONTROL STATIONS OR OTHER CONSTANTLY ATTENDED
 STAFF LOCATIONS, PROVIDED SUCH STATIONS ARE VISIBLE AND
 CONTINUOUSLY ACCESSIBLE AND THAT TRAVEL DISTANCES
 REQUIRED IN SECTION 907.3.1 ARE NOT EXCEEDED.
  
 [F] 907.2.6.2 GROUP I-2. CORRIDORS IN NURSING HOMES
 (BOTH INTERMEDIATE CARE AND SKILLED NURSING
 FACILITIES), DETOXIFICATION FACILITIES AND SPACES
 PERMITTED TO BE OPEN TO THE CORRIDORS BY SECTION 407.2
 SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC FIRE DETECTION
 SYSTEM. HOSPITALS SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH SMOKE
 DETECTION AS REQUIRED IN SECTION 407.2.
  
 EXCEPTIONS:
  
 1. CORRIDOR SMOKE DETECTION IS NOT REQUIRED IN SMOKE
 COMPARTMENTS THAT CONTAIN PATIENT SLEEPING UNITS WHERE
 PATIENT SLEEPING UNITS ARE PROVIDED WITH SMOKE
 DETECTORS THAT COMPLY WITH UL 268. SUCH DETECTORS SHALL
 PROVIDE A VISUAL DISPLAY ON THE CORRIDOR SIDE OF EACH
 PATIENT SLEEPING UNIT AND AN AUDIBLE AND VISUAL ALARM
 AT THE NURSING STATION ATTENDING EACH UNIT.
  
 2. CORRIDOR SMOKE DETECTION IS NOT REQUIRED IN SMOKE
 COMPARTMENTS THAT CONTAIN PATIENT SLEEPING UNITS WHERE
 PATIENT SLEEPING UNIT DOORS ARE EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC
 DOOR-CLOSING DEVICES WITH INTEGRAL SMOKE DETECTORS ON
 THE UNIT SIDES INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR
 LISTING, PROVIDED THAT THE INTEGRAL DETECTORS PERFORM
 THE REQUIRED ALERTING FUNCTION.
  
  
 2C) FBC-B 912.3 INTERIOR FINISH. IN AREAS OF THE
 BUILDING UNDERGOING THE CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY
 CLASSIFICATION, THE INTERIOR FINISH OF WALLS AND
 CEILINGS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING , FOR THE NEW OCCUPANCY
 CLASSIFICATION.
  
 2C) INTERIOR FINISHES 2007 EX BLDG CODE 912.3 INTERIOR
 FINISH. IN AREAS OF THE BUILDING UNDERGOING THE CHANGE
 OF OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION, THE INTERIOR FINISH OF
 WALLS AND CEILINGS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS
 OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING , FOR THE NEW
 OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION.
  
 2007 FBC-B 806.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS. IN OCCUPANCIES
 IN GROUPS A, E, I AND R-1 AND DORMITORIES IN GROUP R-2,
 CURTAINS, DRAPERIES, HANGINGS AND OTHER DECORATIVE
 MATERIALS SUSPENDED FROM WALLS OR CEILINGS SHALL MEET
 THE FLAME PROPAGATION PERFORMANCE CRITERIA OF NFPA 701
 IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 806.2 OR BE NONCOMBUSTIBLE.
  
 IN GROUPS I-1 AND I-2, COMBUSTIBLE DECORATIVE MATERIALS
 SHALL MEET THE FLAME PROPAGATION CRITERIA OF NFPA 701
 UNLESS THE DECORATIVE MATERIALS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT
 LIMITED TO, PHOTOGRAPHS AND PAINTINGS, ARE OF SUCH
 LIMITED QUANTITIES THAT A HAZARD OF FIRE DEVELOPMENT OR
 SPREAD IS NOT PRESENT. IN GROUP I-3, COMBUSTIBLE
 DECORATIVE MATERIALS ARE PROHIBITED.
  
 FIXED OR MOVABLE WALLS AND PARTITIONS, PANELING, WALL
 PADS AND CRASH PADS APPLIED STRUCTURALLY OR FOR
 DECORATION, ACOUSTICAL CORRECTION, SURFACE INSULATION
 OR OTHER PURPOSES SHALL BE CONSIDERED INTERIOR FINISH

 CEILING AREA, AND SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED DECORATIVE

 3) 2007 EX BLDG CODE 912.1.4 ACCESSIBILITY. ALL
 BUILDINGS UNDERGOING A CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY
 CLASSIFICATION SHALL COMPLY WITH SECTION 912.8.
 912.8 ACCESSIBILITY. EXISTING BUILDINGS OR PORTIONS
 THEREOF THAT UNDERGO A CHANGE OF GROUP OR OCCUPANCY
 CLASSIFICATION SHALL COMPLY WITH CHAPTER 11 OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.
 2007/09 FBC-B 11-4.1.62) ALTERATIONS TO AN AREA
 CONTAINING A PRIMARY FUNCTION. IN ADDITION TO THE
 REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 11-4.1.6(1), AN ALTERATION THAT
 AFFECTS OR COULD AFFECT THE USABILITY OF OR ACCESS TO
 AN AREA CONTAINING A PRIMARY FUNCTION SHALL BE MADE SO
 AS TO ENSURE THAT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT FEASIBLE, THE
 PATH OF TRAVEL TO THE ALTERED AREA AND THE RESTROOMS,
 TELEPHONES, AND DRINKING FOUNTAINS SERVING THE ALTERED
 AREA, ARE READILY ACCESSIBLE TO AND USABLE BY
 INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, UNLESS SUCH ALTERATIONS
 ARE DISPROPORTIONATE TO THE OVERALL ALTERATIONS TIN
 TERMS OF COST AND SCOPE.
 ALTERATIONS MADE TO PROVIDE AN ACCESSIBLE PATH OF
 TRAVEL TO ALTERED AREAS SHALL BE DEEMED
 DISPROPORTIONATE TO THE OVERALL ALTERATION WHEN THE
