 FBC 2007 CODE FAMILY W/ 2009 SUPPLEMENTS
 FBC CH.1 AS AMENDED BY THE CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH
  
 THIS PLAN HAS BEEN REVIEWED FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE
 ABOVE LISTED CODES. PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING
 CORRECTIONS PRIOR TO RESUMITTING PLANS:
  
 1. WHAT IS THE DISTANCE OF THE KITCHEN EXHAUST FAN FROM
 ADJACENT BUILDING AND PROPERTY LINE? EXHAUST OUTLETS
 SHALL BE LOCATED NOT LESS THAN 10 FEET HORIZONTALLY
 FROM PARTS OF THE SAME OR CONTIGUOUS BUILDINGS,
 ADJACENT BUILDINGS, ADJACENT PROPERTY LINES AND AIR
 INTAKE OPENINGS INTO ANY BUILDING IN ACCORDANCE WITH
 FBC-M 506.3.12.3.
  
 2. TYPE I HOOD SYSTEMS SHALL BE DESIGNED AND INSTALLED
 TO AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATE THE EXHAUST FAN WHENEVER
 COOKING OPERATIONS OCCUR IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M
 507.2.1.1. THE ACTIVATION OF THE EXHAUST FAN SHALL
 OCCUR THROUGH AN INTERLOCK WITH THE COOKING APPLIANCES,
 BY MEANS OF HEAT SENSORS OR BY MEANS OF OTHER APPROVED
 METHODS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS SECTION.
  
 3. FAN APPEARS TO BE NEXT TO THE ROOF EDGE. GUARDS
 SHALL BE PROVIDED WHERE FANS OR OTHER COMPONENTS THAT
 REQUIRE SERVICE ARE LOCATED WITHIN 10 FEET OF A ROOF
 EDGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 304.10. THE GUARD SHALL
 EXTEND NOT LESS THAN 30 INCHES BEYOND EACH END OF THE
 FAN AND THE TOP OF THE GUARD SHALL BE LOCATED NOT LESS
 THAN 42 INCHES ABOVE THE ELEVATED SURFACE ADJACENT TO
 THE GUARD. THE GUARD SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE
 WITH THE REQUIREMENTS FOR GUARDS SPECIFIED IN THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING.
  
 4. THE PLAN SHOWS THE MANUAL PULL STATION (ACTUATION
 DEVICE) NEXT TO THE HOOD. THE MANUAL ACTUATION DEVICE
 SHALL BE LOCATED AT OR NEAR A MEANS OF EGRESS FROM THE
 COOKING AREA A MINIMUM OF 10 FEET AND A MAXIMUM OF 20
 FEET FROM THE KITCHEN EXHAUST SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH
 FBC-B 904.11.1. THE MANUAL ACTUATION DEVICE SHALL BE
 INSTALLED NOT MORE THAN 48 INCHES OR LESS THAN 42
 INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR AND SHALL CLEARLY IDENTIFY THE
 HAZARD PROTECTED.
  
 5. EXHAUST FAN AND CURB SHALL BE DESIGNED AND INSTALLED
 FOR WIND RESISTANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 301.12.
 PROVIDE MANUFACTURER???S DATA FOR FAN WIND RESISTANCE
 AND ATTACHMENT DETAIL FOR CURB-TO-BUILDING AND
 FAN-TO-CURB.
  
 6. PLAN SHOWS MAKE-UP AIR DUCTS FOR KITCHEN EXHAUST BUT
 THE SOURCE OF THE MAKE-UP AIR AND THE MAKE-UP AIR FAN
 ARE NOT SHOWN ON PLANS. THE EXHAUST AND MAKEUP AIR
 SYSTEMS SHALL BE ELECTRICALLY INTERLOCKED TO INSURE
 THAT MAKEUP AIR IS PROVIDED WHENEVER THE EXHAUST SYSTEM
 IS IN OPERATION. MAKEUP AIR INTAKE OPENING LOCATIONS
 SHALL COMPLY WITH SECTIONS 401.4 AND 401.4.1 IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 508.1.
  
 7. FLOOR PLAN SHOWS THE KITCHEN EXHAUST DUCT AS 12X12
 WHILE THE ELEVATION PLAN SHOWS THE EXHAUST DUCT AS
 10X12. WHICH IS CORRECT? PLEASE CLARIFY.
  
 8. THE ELEVATION PLAN CALLS FOR A 24X14 FIRE RATED
 CHASE FOR A 10X12 DUCT. THE ELEVATION PLAN REFERENCES
 ARCHITECTURAL PLAN FOR CHASE DETAIL. NO ARCHITECTURAL
 PLANS WERE PROVIDED FOR THIS REVIEW. WHILE THIS
 ENCLOSURE MAY OR MAY NOT BE REQUIRED BY CODE (SEE
 SECTION 506.3.6 FOR CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS AND 506.3.10
 FOR DUCT ENCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS), THE SIZES SHOWN ON
 PLANS WOULD NOT PROVIDE THE REQUIRED MINIMUM CLEARANCES
 FOR A DUCT ENCLOSURE. THE ENCLOSURE SHALL BE SEPARATED
 FROM THE DUCT BY A MINIMUM OF 6 INCHES AND A MAXIMUM OF
 12 INCHES IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 506.3.10. THIS
 ENCLOSURE SHALL ALSO BE VENTED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE
 BUILDING THROUGH THE USE OF WEATHER-PROTECTED OPENINGS.
  
 9. NO INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED REGARDING THE PROPOSED
 WALK-IN COOLER. PROVIDE MANUFACTURER???S SUBMITTAL DATA
 AND SHOW THE LOCATION OF ALL RELATED EQUIPMENT
 (INCLUDING REMOTE CONDENSER), PIPING AND CONDENSATE
 DISPOSAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBC-M 304.1 AND FBC-B
