 FBC 2004 CODE FAMILY W/ 2007 SUPPLEMENTS
 NFPA 37-02 AND NFPA 30-00
 FBC CH.1 AS AMENDED BY THE CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH
  
 1. PG A-1: NOTE #3 UNDER SCOPE OF WORK CALLS FOR FUEL
 TANK SHOP DRAWINGS TO BE PROVIDED. NO SHOP DRAWINGS
 WERE INCLUDED IN THIS PLAN SUBMITTAL. PLEASE PROVIDE
 INFORMATION, INCLUDING SHOP DRAWINGS WHICH ARE APPROVED
 BY THE DESIGNER OF RECORD (SHOP DRAWING REVIEW).
  
 2. ABOVE-GROUND FUEL TANKS IN EXCESS OF 550 GALLONS
 SHALL BE SUBMITTED AND APPROVED BY PALM BEACH COUNTY
 DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRIOR T
 PERMIT ISSUANCE. PLANS SHALL BE APPROVED BY PALM BEACH
 COUNTY DERM AND THEN BE SUBMITTED TO THIS DEPARTMENT

 3. PG P-1 GENERAL NOTE: DIESEL GENERATORS AND RELATED
 FUEL TANKS SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, MECHANICAL 2004; NFP 30-00 AND NFPA
 37-02 IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBCM 915.1. THE FLORIDA
 BUILDING CODE, FUEL GAS IS NOT APPLICABLE. PLEASE
 ADJUST NOTES ACCORDINGLY. ALSO, WHEN RESUBMITTING,
 PLEASE RESUBMIT PAGES P-1 AND M-1 AS PAGES M-1 AND M-2
 SINCE THERE WILL BE NO PLUMBING REVIEW OF THESE PLANS.
  
 4. PG A-1 CALLS FOR THE FUEL TANK ROOM TO BE 2-HOUR
 RATED. ROOMS CONTAINING ONLY FUEL TANKS SHALL BE
 CONSTRUCTED OF WALLS, FLOOR, AND CEILING HAVING A FIRE
 RESISTANCE RATING OF NOT LESS THAN 3 HOURS WITH THE
 WALLS BONDED TO THE FLOOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 37-02
 SECTION 6.3.6.1. ALSO, ANY OPENING OF A TANK ROOM SHALL
 BE PROTECTED BY A SELF-CLOSING 3-HOUR FIRE-RATED DOOR
 OR DAMPER ASSEMBLY AS APPLICABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
 FFPA 37-02 SECTION 6.3.6.2. THIS INCLUDES THE FIRE
 DAMPERS PROTECTING DUCT PENETRATIONS OF THE 3-HOUR
 RATED WALLS.
  
 5. PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE DOUBLE-WALL FUEL TANK
 SHOWING IT MEETS THE SPILL CONTAINMENT SYSTEM
 REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA 37-02 SECTION 6.3.6.3.
  
 6. VALVES SHALL BE PROVIDED TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF
 LIQUID FUEL IN NORMAL OPERATION AND TO SHUT OFF THE
 FLOW OF FUEL IN THE EVENT OF A PIPE BREAK IN ACCORDANCE
 WITH NFPA 37-02 SECTION 6.8.3. SEE SECTION A.6.8.3 FOR
 COMPLIANCE METHODS. VALVES SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH
 NFPA 30-00 SECTION 3.3.3.
  
 7. PG P-1: PLAN CALLS FOR VENT LINES TO COMPLY WITH
 NFPA 30 SECTION A.5.7.1.4. THIS SECTION IS RELATED TO
 EXTENSION OF EMERGENCY VENTS. THE VENT PIPE SHOWN ON
 PLANS APPEARS TO BE THE NORMAL VENT PIPE FOR THE TANK,
 NOT THE EMERGENCY VENT. NORMAL VENTS SHALL BE INSTALLED
 IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 30-00 SECTION 2.2.5.1 AND
 DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 3. WILL THE
 EMERGENCY VENTS BE EXTENDED TO THE OUTDOORS AS WELL?
 PLEASE CLARIFY.
  
 8. PG P-1: PROVIDE INFORMATION ON PLANS FOR REQUIRED
 SPACING OF PIPE SUPPORTS FOR FUEL AND VENT PIPING IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 30-00 CHAPTER 3.
  
 9. PG M-1: PLAN SHOWS AN 18X10 INTAKE/MAKEUP AIR DUCT
 FOR THE EXHAUST FAN. THE GRILL IN THE TANK ROOM IS
 SHOWN AS 10X10. IT IS UNCLEAR WHY AN 18X10 DUCT WOULD
 ONLY HAVE A 10X10 GRILL. PLEASE CLARIFY, SHOWING THIS
 SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED AIRFLOW
 IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBCM 603.1.
  
 10. PG M-1: PLAN CALLS FOR TWO NEW WALL LOUVERS TO BE
 INSTALLED. EXTERIOR WALL LOUVERS ARE DEFINED AS PANEL
 WALLS BY FAC RULE 9B-72. AS SUCH, PRODUCT APPROVAL IS
 REQUIRED. PROVIDE PRODUCT APPROVAL DOCUMENTATION
 SHOWING COMPLIANCE WITH FBCB 1609. ALSO, PRODUCT
 APPROVALS SHALL BE APPROVED IN WRITING (SHOP DRAWING
 REVIEW) BY THE DESIGNER OF RECORD PRIOR TO SUBMITTAL TO
 THIS JURISDICTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBCB 106.3.3.
 PRODUCT APPROVALS WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE BUILDING PLAN
 REVIEWER.
  
 11. PG M-1: RELOCATED HPU IS SHOWN ON PLANS TO BE
 ADJACENT TO A NEW CBS WALL. PLEASE VERIFY AND SHOW ON
 PLANS THAT THIS APPLIANCE WILL BE ACCESSIBLE FOR
 SERVICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FBCM 306.1.
  
 12. THIS PROPOSED WORK IS SUBMITTED AS AN ALTERATION TO
 AN EXISTING BUILDING. THIS BUILDING IS CURRENTLY UNDER
 CONSTRUCTION AND HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED A CERTIFICATE OF
 OCCUPANCY (C.O.). THIS WORK, ONCE PERMITTED MAY NOT
 COMMENCE PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF THE C.O. BY THE BUILDING
 OFFICIAL AS THIS BUILDING CAN NOT BE CLASSIFIED AS
 ?EXISTING? UNTIL THAT TIME. ANY WORK RELATED TO THIS
 SCOPE WHICH IS STARTED PRIOR TO C.O. WILL NEED TO BE
 INCORPORATED INTO THE BASE BUILDING PLANS UNDER PERMIT
 #04120353. THIS WORK WILL THEN NEED TO BE COMPLETED
 PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF THE C.O. FOR THE BUILDING. THIS
 WOULD ALSO CAUSE THE PROPOSED WORK TO BE REVIEWED UNDER
 THE 2001 FBC RATHER THAN THE 2004 FBC.
