 PRELIMINARY REVIEW, BUT ORIGINALS REQUIRED FOR REVISION
 ISSUANCE***
  
 THE EMAIL GIVES THE ENGINEER'S RESPONSES, BUT DOES NOT
 STATE HOW HE WILL ADDRESS THE COMMENTS. I ASSUME THAT
 HE UNDERSTANDS THAT THE INSTALLATION SCHEDULE IS TO BE
 REVISED. PLEASE GIVE THE ENGINEER THE FOLLOWING
 INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO YOUR EMAIL:
  
 1. PRODUCT APPROVALS GIVE THE PRODUCT'S DESIGN PRESSURE
 LIMITATIONS. DESIGN PRESSURES FOR THE JOB ARE TO BE
 DETERMINED BY THE DESIGNER OF RECORD. FBC R301. USING
 THE DESIGN PRESSURES SPECIFIED BY DESIGNER OF RECORD
 (OR TABLE R301.2(2)), THE PRODUCT MUST MEET THE DOR'S
 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.
  
 2. A 2/12 PITCH ROOF HAS A ROOF ANGLE OF APPROXIMATELY
 9.46 DEGREES. PROVIDE INFORMATION TO SHOW THAT THE
 -57.3PSF "WORST CASE" DECLARED APPLIES TO THE ROOF. SEE
 FBC TABLE R301.2(2) AND (3). PLEASE PROVIDE ALL
 INFORMATION ON THE INSTALLATION SCHEDULE; FOR INSTANCE,
 OPENING SIZE. THE GLAZED ROOF PANELS ARE APPROXIMATELY
 12 SF. IT IS NOT CLEAR WHAT SIZE HURRICANE SHUTTER
 PANELS WILL BE INSTALLED. THIS INFORMATION IS REQUIRED
 TO DETERMINE DESIGN PRESSURES UNLESS YOU USE "WORST
 CASE" FOR ROOF, WHICH WOULD BE -107.69PSF.
  
 3. THE SHUTTER CONNECTION DETAIL FL10895 SHOWS
 POLYCARBONATE PANELS RATHER THAN ALUMIMUM AS PROPOSED
 FOR THIS JOB. ALSO, THE ENGINEERING ADDRESSES WALL
 PRESSURES, BUT NOT ROOF PRESSURES. THE FPA IS HELPFUL
 BUT ENGINEERING IS STILL REQUIRED AS THE SPECIFICATIONS
 OF THE FPA ARE NOT BEING FOLLOWED.
  
 4. OK; I HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE SUBMITTAL (NEW NOAS) YET
 BUT LOOKED AT IT ON THE INTERNET. THIS APPEARS
 ACCEPTABLE, SUBJECT TO RESOLUTION OF ROOF DESIGN
 PRESSURES. THE PRODUCT HAS A LIMITATION OF -70PSF. IF
 THE ENGINEER CAN JUSTIFY DESIGN PRESSURES OF -70PSF OR
 LOWER FOR ROOF COMPONENT & CLADDING, THIS NOA WILL BE
 ACCEPTABLE. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE.
  
 IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY OUTSTANDING ISSUE IS THE DESIGN
 PRESSURE FOR THE ROOF COMPONENTS & CLADDING (STORM
 PANELS). PLEASE HAVE THE ENGINEER CLARIFY HOW HE'S
 ARRIVED AT -57.3, OR (IF THIS IS FOR WALLS ONLY)
 SPECIFY DESIGN PRESSURES FOR THE ROOF COMPONENTS &
 CLADDING. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR CONTINUING

 ENGINEER AND THESE ARE THE ANSWERS TO THEM I WILL ALSO
 BE DROPPING OFF THE 2 PRODUCT APPROVALS ONE FOR THE
 PANELS THAT IS NOT EXPIRED AND I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT
 AND THE OTHER FOR THE SHUTTER CONNECTIONS TO THE
 SUNROOM IN WHICH I SPOKE TO YOU ABOUT AND I TOLD YOU I

 COMMENT 1:
 PRESSURES ON PAGE 1 OF THE DRAWINGS ARE FOR THE ROOM
 DESIGN ONLY. THE STORM PANEL PRESSURES WERE NOT LISTED
 ON THE DRAWINGS, SINCE IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE TAKEN CARE
 OF WITHIN THE PRODUCT APPROVALS (SEE FL10895 R0 AE
 307005). HOWEVER THE PRESSURES FOR THE STORM PANELS
 NEED TO MEET 57.3 PSF FOR 140 MPH EXPOSURE C COMPONENTS
 AND CLADDING (WORST CASE DESIGN).
  
 COMMENT 2:
 THE ROOF PITCH OF THIS ROOM IS ROUGHLY 2 ON 12.
  
 COMMENT 3:
 PLEASE NOTE JOE IS CHANGING THE PANEL TO FL-7226.1.
 THE INSTALLATION SCHEDULE INCLUDES ONE OPENING WHICH
 SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE FOR THE WORST CASE FOR BOTH SIZE
 AND PRESSURE DESIGN. THE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 57.3 (+/-).
 SHUTTER MOUNTING CONNECTION SHOULD BE BASED ON SECTION
 3 ON SHEET 2. SHUTTER GLASS SEPARATION NEEDS TO BE 3?
 MIN. SHUTTER SPAN IS A MAX. OF 8?-6? ON THE GABLE ENDS
 AND 6?-10? ON THE FRONT WALLS, INSTALLED VERTICALLY.
 MIN. EDGE DISTANCE IS 2? WHICH HAS THE REDUCTION OF
 0.5. THE SPACING IN THE CHART FOR THE 66 PSF, -72 PSF
 MAX. PRESSURE REQUIREMENTS FOR TAPCONS INTO CONCRETE AT
 THE ?BOTTOM? PORTION OF DETAIL ?3? IS 12? O.C.
 THEREFORE AFTER THE REDUCTION THE SCREWS MUST BE 6?
 O.C. SPACING MAX.
 THE TOP CONNECTION IS BASED ON FL-10895.1, NOT 7226.1.
 #10 X 3/4" SELF DRILLING SCREW AT 6? O.C. MAX IS
 REQUIRED. THE CALCULATION OF PRESSURES ARE FOUND WITHIN
 THE EVALUATION REPORT FL10895 R0 AE 307005.
  
 COMMENT 4:
 JOE HAS NEW NOA FOR PANELS. AND WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH
 THE OTHER PRODUCT APPROVAL AS WELL.
  
 COMMENT 5:
 THE GLASS SEPARATION WILL BE 3-1/2? BASED ON THE
 EXTRUSION WITH A 3? MAX LEG (DETAIL 3 ON SHEET 1A), AND
 THE GLASS SITS BACK OFF THE WALL 1/2". ALTHOUGH WITH
 THE NEW PRODUCT REPORT 7226.1 THE SEPARATION NEED ONLY
 BE 3?.
  
 COMMENT 6:
 SEE COMMENT 3 RESPONSE WHICH SHOW THE FASTENERS USED
 AND THAT THE FACTOR WAS APPLIED TO THE TAPCON.
  
 COMMENT 7:
 THE SUNROOM CAN ACCOMMODATE THE ADDITIONAL PANEL WEIGHT
 AND THERE WILL NOT BE ANY WATER INTRUSION ISSUES.
 SEE FL-10895.1 AND THE RESPONSE TO COMMENT 3 FOR THE
 SCHEDULE OF FASTENERS INTO THE ALUMINUM AT THE TOP
 CONNECTION POINT.
  
 COMMENT 8:
 NO ALTERNATIVE DESIGN OPTION NEED BE DISCUSSED.
