 1- ACCORDING TO PALM BEACH COUNTY PROPERTY APPRAISER,
 THE VALUE OF THE STRUCTURE IS $350.151. THEREFORE, NEED
 TO COMPLY WITH THE ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS AS REQUIRED
 BY SEC. 706.8 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING. SHOW COMPLIANCE.
 NOTE: A SEPARATE SUB-PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR ROOF TO
 WALL CONNECTIONS. THIS WORK CAN NOT BE DONE BY THE
 ROOFING CONTRACTOR UNLESS ROOFING CONTRACTOR POSSESSES
 THE PROPER LICENSE TO PERFORM THIS WORK.
  
 RESPONSE:
 A) THE ROOF TO WALL PROPOSAL SUBMITTED IS FOR $3,850
 AND IS FOR ENTIRE ROOF. ALSO, THE PROPOSAL WAS DONE BY
 BENTLEY ROOFING (ROOFING CONTRACTOR). ROOFING
 CONTRACTOR CAN NOT PERFORM THE WORK UNLESS HOLDING A
 LICENSE THAT ALLOWS THIS SCOPE OF WORK . A DETAILED
 PROPOSAL NEEDS TO BE DONE BY LICENSE CONTRACTOR WHO CAN
 PERFORM THE WORK. PROVIDE PROPOSAL WITH CONTRACTOR'S
 LETTERHEAD. THE PROPOSAL NEEDS TO HAVE A DETAILED
 BREAKDOWN THAT INCLUDES THE SPECIFIC HURRICANE STRAPS
 AND AREAS WHERE STRAPS WILL BE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO
 DETERMINE IF THE 15% EXCEPTION #2 OF SEC. 706.8.1
 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING APPLIES.

 BUILDING BELOW.
  
 SECTION 706.8.1 ROOF-TO-WALL CONNECTIONS FOR SITE-BUILT
 SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES.
 EXCEPTIONS:
 #2) .ROOF-TO-WALL CONNECTIONS SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED
 UNLESS EVALUATION AND INSTALLATION OF CONNECTIONS AT
 GABLE ENDS OR ALL CORNERS CAN BE COMPLETED FOR 15
 PERCENT OF THE COST OF ROOF REPLACEMENT.
  
 B) FOR ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATION: SEC. 706.8 (B)
 FBC-EXISTING BUILDING SPECIES THAT MANDATED ROOF TO
 WALL CONNECTIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED BEYOND A 15 PERCENT
 INCREASE IN THE COST OF RE-ROOFING. THIS MEANS THAT THE
 FIRST 15 PERCENT IS REQUIRED.
 THE EXCEPTION #2 OF SEC. 706.8.1 ONLY APPLIES IF IT IS
 DETERMINED THAT THE INITIAL 15% WILL BE EXEMPT, THEN NO
 ROOF TO WALL CONNECTIONS WILL BE REQUIRED. THAT'S WHY
 THE LICENSE CONTRACTOR DETAILED BREAKDOWN IS REQUIRED.
  
 SECTION 706.8 (B) MANDATED RETROFITS OF THE
 ROOF-TO-WALL CONNECTION SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED BEYOND A
 15 PERCENT INCREASE IN THE COST OF REROOFING.
