 SHOWS A DOOR IN THE VERTICAL EXIT STAIRWAY THAT LEADS
 DIRECTLY INTO THE SERVICE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM. PLEASE
 PROVIDE COMPLIANCE WITH:
 2010 FBC-B 1022.3 OPENINGS AND PENETRATIONS.
 EXIT ENCLOSURE OPENING PROTECTIVES SHALL BE IN
 ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 715.
 OPENINGS IN EXIT ENCLOSURES OTHER THAN UNPROTECTED
 EXTERIOR OPENINGS SHALL BE LIMITED TO THOSE NECESSARY
 FOR EXIT ACCESS TO THE ENCLOSURE FROM NORMALLY OCCUPIED
 SPACES AND FOR EGRESS FROM THE ENCLOSURE.
  
 2010 FBC-B 1022.4 PENETRATIONS.
 PENETRATIONS INTO AND OPENINGS THROUGH AN EXIT
 ENCLOSURE ARE PROHIBITED EXCEPT FOR REQUIRED EXIT
 DOORS, EQUIPMENT AND DUCTWORK NECESSARY FOR INDEPENDENT
 VENTILATION OR PRESSURIZATION, SPRINKLER PIPING,
 STANDPIPES, ELECTRICAL RACEWAY FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT
 COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS AND ELECTRICAL RACEWAY SERVING
 THE EXIT ENCLOSURE AND TERMINATING AT A STEEL BOX NOT
 EXCEEDING 16 SQUARE INCHES (0.010 M2). SUCH
 PENETRATIONS SHALL BE PROTECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
 SECTION 713. THERE SHALL BE NO PENETRATIONS OR
 COMMUNICATION OPENINGS, WHETHER PROTECTED OR NOT,
 BETWEEN ADJACENT EXIT ENCLOSURES.
  
 2A) THERE IS 2 PLANS 300-A20-001 THE NORTHWEST STAIR
 AND SHEETS 300-A20-006 THE SOUTHEAST STAIR, BOTH SHOW A
 GUARDRAIL SYSTEM OPEN AS ALLOWED FOR FACTORY/
 INDUSTRIAL OCCUPANCIES. THERE WAS A MEETING IN THE
 BUILDING DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE ROOM WITH THE
 CONTRACTOR, THE THRESHOLD INSPECTORS AS TO WHERE THESE
 TYPE OF GUARDRAIL SYSTEMS CAN BE INSTALLED. THE CONCERN
 IS NOW THERE ARE VISITORS BEING ALLOWED INTO THE BOILER
 BUILDING ON THERE WAY TO THE CONTROL ROOM. THE (2)
 REQUIRED EXITS AS DISCUSSEED IN THE MEETING HAD TO MEET
 THE MORE RESTRICTIVE GUARDRAIL / HANDRAIL REQUIREMENTS
 MEETING THE OPENING LIMITATIONS OF 2010 FBC-B 1013.3,
 NO EXCEPTIONS CAN BE TAKEN. IDENTIFY WHICH STAIRWELLS
 WILL MEET THIS REQUIREMENT.
 THE OTHER ISSUE WAS
  
 2B) THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ON THEIR JOBSITE INSPECTION
 VISITS HAS ALSO FOUND THE GUARDRAILS IN VAROIUS
 STAIRWWELLS DIDN'T MEET THE HEIGHT REQUIREMENT OF 42
 INCHES FOUND IN FBC-B 1013.3. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY
 EXCEPTIONS FROM EITHER THE FIRE DEPAARTMENT NOR THE
 BUILDING DEPARTMENT FOR THE HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS.
  
 2C) SHEET 200-A9.2 SECTION # 3 DOES NOT SHOW ANY
 HANDRAILS IN EITHER THE FLOOR PLAN OR ELEVATION VIEWS.
 SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH 2010 FBC-B 1012.2.
  
 3) BUILDING PROVISO: SHEET 300-20-007 SHOWS AN ACCESS
 DOOR (WEST ELEVATION) AT THE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM,
 ELE. 170'-4". THIS LOCATION SHALL BE AN APPROVED MEANS
 OF ACCESS. FBC-B 3006.1 ACCESS. AN APPROVED MEANS OF
 ACCESS SHALL BE PROVIDED TO ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOMS AND
 OVERHEAD MACHINERY SPACES.
  
 THIS ACCESS DOOR SHALL BE LARGE ENOUGH FOR THIS ACCESS
 ARE MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT AND THE
 NECESSARY STATE AND LOCAL INSPECTION TO BE PREFORMED.
