 1) THE DESIGNER OF RECORD HAS NOT DECLAIRED TO WHAT
 LEVEL OF ALTERATION THE WORK UNDER THIS PERMIT IS TO BE
 COMPLETED. WITH THE LIMITED INFORMATION PROVIDED WE ARE
 REVIEWING THIS PERMIT AS A LEVEL 1 ALTERATION. 604.1
 GENERAL. MEANS OF EGRESS FOR BUILDINGS UNDERGOING
 ALTERATION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF
 SECTION 601.1 AND THE SCOPING PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 1
 WHERE APPLICABLE.
  
 RECOMMENDATION ONLY, THE DOUBLE DOORS LABELED # 2 SWING
 AGAINST THE EGRESS PATH (2010 FBC-B 1008.1.2), WITH
 OCCUPANT LOADS GREATER THAN 50 THE DOORS SHALL SWING IN
 THE DIRECTION OF EGRESS TRAVEL. THE RECOMMENDATION IS
 TO REMOVE THE DOORS OR PUT THESE DOORS ON DOUBLE ACTING
 HINGES SO THEY WILL NOT IMPEDE ACCESS TO THE RESTROOMS.
  
 NOTE IT IS ASSUMED THE WINDOWS ARE GOING TO BE
 INSTALLED WITHIN THE SAME OPENING. IF THE SIZES CHANGE
 THEN THIS BECOMES A LEVEL 2 ALTERATION, AND
 SECTION 2010 EXISTING BUILDING CODE LEVEL II 701.3
 BECOMES ACTIVE. COMPLIANCE. ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION
 ELEMENTS, COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND SPACES SHALL COMPLY
 WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE,
 BUILDING.
  
 2010 EXISTING BUILDING CODE LEVEL 2. 705.2 EXCEPTION 2:
 MEANS OF EGRESS CONFORMING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, BUILDING AND THE FLORIDA FIRE
 PREVENTION CODE UNDER WHICH THE BUILDING WAS
 CONSTRUCTED SHALL BE CONSIDERED COMPLIANT MEANS OF
 EGRESS IF, IN THE OPINION OF THE CODE OFFICIAL, THEY DO
 NOT CONSTITUTE A DISTINCT HAZARD TO LIFE. WE BELIEVE
 THIS IS A DISTINCT HAZARD TO LIFE.
  
 THIS BUILDING WAS BUILT IN 1948 AND WAS UNDER THE
 BUILDING CODE CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH 1947. SECTION
 603. EXIT FACILITIES.(I) DOORS & GATES. ALL EXIT AND
 ENTRANCE DOORS OR GATES SHALL SWING IN THE DIRECTION OF
 EXIT TRAVEL AND IF PROVIDED WITH LATCHES SUCH LATCHES
 SHALL BE OF SELF -RELEASING TYPE, SUCH AS PANIC BOLTS
 OR SIMILAR DEVICES, WHICH WILL PERMIT THE DOORS TO OPEN
 WHEN PRESSED AGAINST.

 APPROVED LOCKS AND LATCHES SHALL BE PERMITTED TO
 PREVENT OPERATION OF DOORS WHERE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING
 EXISTS:
  
 2. IN BUILDINGS IN OCCUPANCY GROUP A HAVING AN OCCUPANT
 LOAD OF 300 OR LESS, GROUPS B, F, M AND S, AND IN
 PLACES OF RELIGIOUS WORSHIP, THE MAIN EXTERIOR DOOR
 (MAIN EXIT) OR DOORS ARE PERMITTED TO BE EQUIPPED WITH
 KEY-OPERATED LOCKING DEVICES FROM THE EGRESS SIDE
 PROVIDED:
 2.1. THE LOCKING DEVICE IS READILY DISTINGUISHABLE AS
 LOCKED;
 2.2. A READILY VISIBLE DURABLE SIGN IS POSTED ON THE
 EGRESS SIDE ON OR ADJACENT TO THE DOOR STATING: THIS
 DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. THE
 SIGN SHALL BE IN LETTERS 1 INCH (25 MM) HIGH ON A
 CONTRASTING BACKGROUND; AND
 2.3. THE USE OF THE KEY-OPERATED LOCKING DEVICE IS
 REVOCABLE BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL FOR DUE CAUSE.
  
 NOTE: DOORS IDENTIFIED # 4 WILL NEED PANIC HARDWARE,
 NOT THE MAIN EXTERIOR ENTRY DOOR.

 LATCH OR LOCK UNLESS IT IS PANIC HARDWARE OR FIRE EXIT
 HARDWARE.
