 ROOMS, CLOSETS OR SPACES USED FOR SIMILAR PURPOSES.
 EXCEPTIONS:
 2. MEANS OF EGRESS ARE NOT PROHIBITED THROUGH
 STOCKROOMS IN GROUP M OCCUPANCIES WHEN ALL OF THE
 FOLLOWING ARE MET:
 2.1. THE STOCK IS OF THE SAME HAZARD CLASSIFICATION AS
 THAT FOUND IN THE MAIN RETAIL AREA;
 2.2. NOT MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF THE EXIT ACCESS IS
 THROUGH THE STOCKROOM;
 2.3. THE STOCKROOM IS NOT SUBJECT TO LOCKING FROM THE
 EGRESS SIDE; AND
 2.4. THERE IS A DEMARCATED, MINIMUM 44-INCH-WIDE (1118
 MM) AISLE DEFINED BY FULL- OR PARTIAL-HEIGHT FIXED
 WALLS OR SIMILAR CONSTRUCTION THAT WILL MAINTAIN
 THE REQUIRED WIDTH AND LEAD DIRECTLY FROM THE RETAIL
 AREA TO THE EXIT WITHOUT OBSTRUCTIONS.

 PROVISO:
 PER NFPA 101, SECTION 36.2.5.11 EXIT ACCESS IN CLASS A
 AND CLASS B MERCANTILE OCCUPANCIES THAT ARE PROTECTED
 THROUGHOUT BY AN APPROVED, SUPERVISED AUTOMATIC
 SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 9.7.1.1(1), AND
 EXIT ACCESS IN ALL CLASS C MERCANTILE OCCUPANCIES,
 SHALL BE PERMITTED TO PASS THROUGH STOREROOMS, PROVIDED
 THAT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE MET:
 (1)NOT MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF EXIT ACCESS SHALL BE
 PROVIDED THROUGH THE STOREROOM.
 (2)THE STOREROOM SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO LOCKING.
 (3)THE MAIN AISLE THROUGH THE STOREROOM SHALL BE NOT
 LESS THAN 44 IN. (1120 MM) WIDE.
 (4)THE PATH OF TRAVEL THROUGH THE STOREROOM SHALL BE
 DEFINED, DIRECT, AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAINED IN AN
