 OF THE ATTACHED GARAGE SLAB IS PROPOSED TO BE AT 7.25'
 BFE, WHICH IS BELOW THE REQUIRED 7.5' BFE. THE PLANS
 INDICATE THAT 2 "SMART VENT" FLOOD VENTS WILL BE
 INSTALLED IN ONE WALL OF THE GARAGE. FEMA TECHNICAL
 BULLETIN 1 / AUGUST 2008 OPENINGS IN FOUNDATION WALLS
 AND WALLS OF ENCLOSURES REQUIRES 1 SQIN OF NET OPEN
 AREA PER SQFT OF ENCLOSED AREA, WITH A MINIMUM OF TWO
 OPENINGS. ALL OF THE NECESSARY OPEN AREA IS REQUIRED TO
 BE BELOW THE BFE (ONLY THE PORTION OF THE VENT BELOW
 BFE WILL COUNT AS CONTRIBUTING TO THE REQUIRED NET OPEN
 AREA. THE OPENINGS SHOULD BE INSTALLED ON AT LEAST TWO
 SIDES OF EACH ENCLOSED AREA TO DECREASE THE CHANCES
 THAT ALL OPENINGS COULD BE BLOCKED WITH FLOATING DEBRIS
 AND TO ALLOW FOR MORE EVEN FILLING BY FLOODWATER AND
 DRAINING OF THE ENCLOSED AREA. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT
 THE NET OPEN AREA OF THE TWO PROPOSED FLOOD VENTS THAT
 IS BELOW BFE (3") WILL NOT PROVIDE THE 385 SQIN OF NET
 FREE OPEN AREA THAT IS REQUIRED BELOW THE BFE. PLEASE
 REFER TO THE SPECIFIED FEMA BULLETIN AND PROVIDE THE
 REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION AND CALCULATIONS. CITY
