 PLEASE RESPOND TO REVIEW COMMENTS IN WRITTEN FORMAT.
  
 1. PLEASE PROVIDE A CERTIFIED COST ESTIMATE THAT
 INCLUDES THE TOTAL COST OF ALL LANDSCAPE MATERIALS AND
 LABOR, BROKEN DOWN INTO UNIT COST.
  
 2. PLEASE PROVIDE THE TABULATION NECESSARY FOR THE
 EVALUATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH ARTICLE XIV OF THE ZONING
 AND LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, INCLUDING THE
 XERISCAPE DESIGN OPTIONS.
  
 3. PURSUANT TO SECTION 94-442 (C), PALM TREES MAY BE
 SUBSTITUTED FOR NO MORE THAN 35 PERCENT OF THE SHADE OR
 FLOWERING TREES REQUIRED BY THIS ARTICLE.
  
 4. THE PROPOSED FENCE WHERE IT IS ADJACENT TO A
 RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL BE INSTALLED ALONG THE INTERIOR
 PERIMETER OF THE LANDSCAPE SETBACK WITH THE TREES AND
 LANDSCAPING INSTALLED ALONG THE STREET SIDE OF THE
 FENCE.
  
 5. ALL EXISTING PALMS ADJACENT TO AUSTRALIAN AVENUE
 SHOULD BE RELOCATED OR REMOVED. MANY OF THEM ARE SICK
 AND NONE OF THE THEM ARE CONSISTENT WITH A NATIVE
 PLANTING. THE INITIAL CONCEPT WAS TO DUPLICATE THE
 PLANTING ON THIS SITE TO MATCH WHAT HAS BEEN PLANTED
 ALONG CLEAR LAKE. THE FIRST PHASE OF CLEAR LAKE IS
 FULLY UNDERPLANTED. WE ARE HOPEFULL THAT IN THE FUTURE,
 THE ENTIRE CORRIDOR ALONG AUSTRALIAN WILL BE
 UNDERPLANTED, AS WELL. THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM IS GOING
 TO BE OVERHAULED TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL UNDERPLANTING
 IN THE FUTURE. VERY LITTLE UNDERPLANTING HAS BEEN
 PROPOSED WITH THIS PROJECT. IN ADDITION, DAHOON HOLLY,
 PIGEON PLUM, LIVE OAK AND BALD CYPRESS WERE PLANTED.
 OTHER EXISTING NATIVE TREE SPECIES SUCH AS MAHOGANY AND
 GUMBO LIMBO ARE FOUND IN THAT PLANTING. THE
 UNDERPLANTING CONSISTS OF SAW PALMETTO, THRYALLIS,
 DWARF FIREBUSH, MUHLY GRASS, FAKAHATCHEE GRASS,
 COCOPLUM, WILD COFFEE AND OTHER PLANT SPECIES, AS WELL.
 I WOULD SUGGEST THAT NATIVE SLASH PINES BE INSTALLED ON
 BOTH SIDES OF AUSTRALIAN TO COMPLETE THE URBAN FOREST.
 THE PINES WOULD PROVIDE MULCH AND REDUCE MAINTENANCE AS
 THEY MATURE.
  
 6. PURSUANT TO SECTION 94-443 (C) (5) (A), LANDSCAPE
 AREAS SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM VEHICULAR USE AREAS BY
 NON-MOUNTABLE, CONCRETE CURBING OF THE TYPE
 CHARACTERIZED AS "TYPE D". THERE IS NO CURBING ADJACENT
 TO THE EXISTING PARKING AREAS.
  
 7. PURSUANT TO SECTION 94-443 (C) (3) (B) ONE INTERIOR
 ISLAND SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR EVERY TEN PARKING SPACES
 OR FRACTION THERE. INTERIOR LANDSCAPE ISLANDS SHALL BE
 AT LEAST FIVE FEET WIDE, EXCLUDING THE REQUIRED
 CURBING, AND SHALL CONTAIN AT LEAST ONE SHADE OR
 FLOWERING TREE. THE SAME MINIMUM SIZE AND TREE
 REQUIREMENT APPLIES FOR TERMINAL LANDSCAPE ISLANDS.
 PLEASE SHOW THE STRIPING FOR ALL PARKING AREAS.
  
 8. PURSUANT TO SECTION 94-443 (B) (1), FOR INDUSTRIAL
 USES, THE BUFFER STRIP SHALL BE AT LEAST TEN FEET SIDE
 ALONG THE EDGE OF PROPERTY WHEN ADJACENT TO A PUBLIC
 THOROUGHFARE AND AT LEAST FIVE FEET WIDE ALONG THE EDGE
 OF PROPERTY WHEN ADJACENT TO NONRESIDENTIAL ZONING
 DISTRICTS. THE LANDSCAPE STRIP ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF
 THE SITE TOWARD BANYAN DOES NOT MEET THE MINIMUM WIDTH
 REQUIREMENT. IN ADDITION, ONE SHADE OR FLOWERING TREE
 SHALL BE PLANTED IN A REQUIRED BUFFER STRIP FOR EACH 30
 LINEAR FEET OR PORTION THEREOF. A CONTINUOUS HEDGE
 SHALL ALSO BE REQUIRED. THERE ARE OTHER AREAS AROUND
 THE PERIMETER OF THE SITE THAT MAY NEED MORE TREES AND
 HEDGE MATERIAL TO COMPLY WITH THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.
  
 9. PURSUANT TO SECTION 94-444 (B), OUTDOOR
 INCINERATORS, GARBAGE OR TRASH RECEPTACLES, FUEL OIL OR
 PROPANE TANKS, STORAGE RACKS AND OTHER MECHANICAL
 EQUIPMENT SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED UNLESS APPROPRIATE
 SCREENING IS PROVIDED. SCREENING SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED
 OF BRICK, DECORATIVE CONCRETE, OTHER DECORATIVE
 MASONRY, OR COMPARABLY DURABLE WOOD AND STEEL. WALLS
 SHALL BE LANDSCAPED WITH SHRUBS AND HEDGES PLANTED AT
 TWO-FOOT INTERVALS. PLEASE SHOW WHERE THE DUMPSTER(S)
 AND OTHER EQUIPMENT WILL BE LOCATED AND THE MANNER IN
 WHICH THESE ITEMS WILL BE SCREENED. A FOUR-SIDED
 ENCLOSURE WITH OBSCURING GATES IS REQUIRED FOR THE
 DUMPSTER ENCLOSURE (S).
  
 10. STAFF RECOMMENDS THAT THE GUARDRAILS BE CAMOUFLAGED
 THROUGH THE USE OF LOW GROWING PLANT MATERIAL PLANTED
 NEXT TO THEM.

 A PEDESTRIAN PATH SHOULD BE INSTALLED ALONG AUSTRALIAN
 BETWEEN BANYAN AND 7TH STREET SINCE THIS IS THE LINK
 BETWEEN THE PALM TRAN FACILITY AND THE RESIDENCES AT
 7TH STREET. THE PATH WOULD ELIMINATE THE NEED TO CROSS
 AUSTRALIAN FOR RESIDENTS WHO LIVE ON THE EASTERN SIDE
 OF THE AVENUE.
