THIS 3-STORY, HOLLOW TILE WAREHOUSE HAS FALLEN
INTO A DILAPIDATED STATE. BEING UNOCCUPIED FOR AN
ESTIMATED 20 YEARS, AND APPARENTLY UNMAINTAINED
FOR JUST AS LONG, HAS RESULTED IN A ROOF COVER
THAT IS NOW ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER THE STRUCTURE.
THE WATER INFILTRATION IS DAMAGING THE ROOF
FRAMING, AND WE NOW HAVE MORE THAN ONE MAJOR ROOF
FRAMING GIRDER READY TO FAIL. THE POTENTIAL FOR
FAILURE OF THESE GIRDERS COULD LEAD TO FAILURE OF
OTHER COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THIRD FLOOR FRAMING AND
EXTERIOR HOLLOW TILE WALL IN THOSE AREAS. THESE
COMPONENTS WORK TOGETHER AND ARE CRITICAL TO THE
BUILDING'S LATERAL CUPPORT AND ABILITY TO RESIST
PERIODS OF STRONG WINDS, SUCH AS A HURRICANE.
OTHER AREAS OF THE WAREHOUSE ARE SHOWING TERMITE
DAMAGE. TERMITES HAVE FOLLOWED THE WATER
INFILTRATION AND DAMAGED MANY AREAS OF WOOD FLOOR
FRAMING AND PINE WOOD COVER.
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS ALSO BEEN DAMAGED BY
MOISTURE, VANDALISM AND NEGLECT. IT APPEARS TO NO
LONGER BE STABLE. THE TWO RESTROOMS AND RELATED
PLUMBING WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED.
THE BUILDING'S ABILITY TO SAFELY REMAIN UNATTENDED
HAS CHANGED, AND ITS ABILITY TO WITHSTAND STORMS
OR PERIODS OF HIGH WIND IS NOW COMPROMISED. THE
POTENTIAL FOR FAILURE IS PUTTING ALL IN THE
IMMEDIATE VICINITY IN DANGER AND MUST BE ABATED.

PUT IN PLACE. THEY WILL THEN BE ABLE TO
DESIGN THE APPROPRIATE REPAIRS AND
PREPARE THE NECESSARY DRAWINGS. WHEN
THE DRAWINGS ARE READY, THEY SHOULD BE
SUBMITTED TO CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
DEPARTMENT FOR PLAN REVIEW. WHEN THAT IS
COMPLETE, A PERMIT TO REPAIR CAN BE
ISSUED.
