INITIAL01-12-2007CONSUMER HAS A COMPLAINT CONCERNING THE POLICIES OF THE
  CITY. HE WANT TO EXPRESS THAT EVERY PERSON THAT HE HAS
  SPOKEN TO IN THE CITY HAS BEEN MORE THAT HELPFUL.
  CUSTOMER STATES THAT FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS HIS NEIGHBOR (509
  52ND ST) HAD A TEMPORARY ROOF UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN CODE
  COMPLIANCE AND THE MAGISTRATE GAVE HIM A DEADLINE TO HAVE
  THE ROOF REPAIRED OR HE WOULD INCUR FINES. PRIOR TO THE
  DEADLINE THE NEIGHBOR COMPLIED. MR. SAGE?S COMPLAINT IS THE
  ROOF WAS INSTALLED WITHOUT A PERMIT. HE STATES THAT HE WENT
  ONLINE AND LOOKED UP THE PERMIT INFORMATION AND FOUND THAT
  ONE HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED; HE ALSO CALLED AND WAS TOLD THAT
  THERE?S NO PERMIT INFORMATION FOR THAT ADDRESS. HE ALSO
  STATES THAT THE MAGISTRATE AS WELL AS CODE COMPLIANCE
  SIGNED OFF ON THE ROOF. HE STATES THAT HE SPOKE WITH DAVID
  LAVINE OF CODE COMPLIANCE AND QUESTIONED HIM AT A
  NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING AS TO WHY WAS THE ROOF SIGNED OFF ON
  WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE OF A PERMIT? MR. LEVINE RESPONDED THAT
  IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PULL THE PERMIT TO CLEAR THE
  VIOLATION. MR. SAGE BELIEVES THAT THIS POLICY NEEDS TO BE
  CHANGED. HE IS CONCERNED THAT IF THERE ARE STRONG WINDS AND
  THE NEIGHBOR'S ROOF COMES OFF AND DAMAGES HIS OR ANOTHER?S
  PROPERTY HE WILL MAKE IT KNOWN THAT THE CITY WAS AWARE OF
  THE ROOF BEING INSTALLED WITHOUT THE PROPER PERMITTING.
  HE IS DEMANDING THAT SOMEONE CONTACT HIM IMMEDIATELY.

CLOSING01-12-2007I CALLED MR. SAGE TODAY AND DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH HIM.
  I TOLD HIM THAT FOR THE MOST PART CODE COMPLIANCE WORKS
  CLOSELY WITH THE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT WITH
  REGARDS TO PERMITTED WORK. I ALSO SAID THAT I WOULD
  CONTACT TODD HITESHEW AND CLEAR UP ANY AREAS OF CONFUSION
  SO THAT SIMILAR ERRORS DO NOT OCCUR AGAIN. A BUILDING
  INSPECTOR WILL BE ASSIGNED TO INVESTIGATE 509 52ND ST AND
  TO ENSURE THAT THE ROOF IS PERMITTED AND INSPECTED.
